I am moving to Cincinnati for Grad School, will be arriving on Tuesday.
Would like to know if there are any good ranges that allows drills, double tap/rapid fire, and other practical/tactical shooting.
If the driving distance is within 1hr or maybe 1.5hr, I'd say that is a decent driving distance... if the range is actually good.

Also, I know OH law says no magazine hold more than 30rds, are there anything I need to know about the gun laws?
Only have rifles, and standard cap magazines.

Below are some vids of me shooting at the range I currently go to, would like to have the similar experience in OH, if possible.
If there are no tactical ranges, PLEASE tell me about other options....

Oops.
Hour and a half  drive.
Tranquility ODNR wildlife area.

25 & 100 yd. ranges.

Really more like there's nobody ever there than allow.
Bring your own barrels and car doors.
And targets.
And stands.

Your guns are fine.

ReadyLine has a 100 yd indoor range. Facility is super nice.

No magazines larger than 30 rounds, unless the firearm is an NFA registered weapon, then you can have as much as you want. Doesn't apply to .22 caliber rimfire.

Never shot at a wildlife area before...
Is there an actual range inside the wildlife area?
What's the fee for each visit? Is there a membership deal?

From the pictures on their website it looks like a very nice place to shoot, I am very excited.
I am very surprised by how young this place is, only 8 months old!
Question about the range:
Can I shoot my rifles at the 25yards 'pistol' range? (it says it's rated up to .308)
Also, can I shoot steel jacketed ammo? (Wolf, Silver Bear)
Lastly, do they allow double tap or rapid fire?

Yes.
Free.
No.

The dark green areas around the preimetier of each range is berm 10-15 feet high.
The trees to the north and east are hillside.
Just off the screen to the south is a pond and a creek.
There used to be a bridge but it was unsafe so they tore it out.  That's why the trees are across the road.

Over 30-rnd magazines are legal for use in .22 caliber firearms, or for use in legally registered NFA weapons.

The best place to get your fix of tactical/practical shooting would be in Wilmington, Ohio at Clinton County Farmers and Sportsmans Association.  Fourth Sunday of each month is 3-Gun (they're a 3-Gun Nation affiliated club).

I'm 30  minutes south of the river. It's a privet farm with a range. I have a few thing set up there. You can run where ever and as far as you want as log as the rounds hit the berm.

That sounds really good.
Is it your land or someone else's land?
Do you mind sharing more info about this private land? (address, pics, etc)
How much for the 'entrance' or membership?

You can PM me if you don't feel like posting it here.

I rent a little house from a buddy that owns the 145 acres for deer hunting. I set up a range along 200 yards of berm. Too hilly for any long range but I have lots to do for close quarter stuff. Pistol rated steel, plate rack, poppers, popups, rolling targets, "shoot house" and a "cabin assault".
ETA: Yesterday I had 22 people at the annual PCP shoot. Everything is set up. Whatcha doing next weekend?
ETA2: Jeebus, I swear I wasn't drinking when I posted earlier, "privet? as log as?" I was just exhausted from setting up the range for a large group of out of towners.

Hillbilly plate rack.

Speed drills. Steel for pistol, cardboard for rifle.

Dudes hanging out from the Arfcom group in May.

A peak into the shoot house. Watch the pass throughs!

Notice the wheels on foreground targets. The mess in the background is "screw your buddy. My favorite drill.

This is a target rich environment.

On the move to get an angle.

Cabin assault. What lies within?

Last year we had zombies in the bathroom.

Pressure drill. Stand your ground as 5 (1's out of view) targets requiring head shots advance in 10 seconds. Many panic, rush and fail.

396 foot pistol shot earns you access to my kegerator after we shoot.

Here's the target.

That is absolutely stunningly beautiful... I AM VERY INTERESTED
I mostly shoot close quarter as well, but with rifles.
Do you mind sharing or PM me where this place is?
Do you and your buddy mind doing a membership for shooting on his land(where you have your stuff setup)?

By next weekend, do you mean the 16th and 17th?
If so, I can probably head down to KY to check out the place if you are available.

Yeah, I meant next weekend. Just because everything is already setup. We'll set something up, if by "check the place out" you mean shoot. The guy I rent from isn't into it so it's just me. IM me your phone number, real name and a good time to call.

Yeah, after reading through their fees, it surely does seem expensive if you don't go regularly and/or don't have membership.
$17 for one hour if not a member.
For membership, it's $100 + $35 for the first month, and $35 for each month after the first payment of $100+35.

That means as a memeber, it will be about $33 for each visit if you go every week(4weeks) for the first month, and if you go 2 times a month after that, it will be $17per visit, which seems like an okay price.
The membership is only worth it if you go there regularly.

You can also take some great classes at Tactical Defense Institute in West Union.  It is about 1.5 hours from Cincinnati.  I have take handgun 1-3 and Tac Rifle 1 at TDI.  You can find their website via google or their page on facebook.  I will prob take tac rife 2 or precision rifle next year.

That is what my buddy keeps telling me too.  Between work and family commitments, i can only take a class a year so I have to choose carefully :-).

Anyway, OP ... welcome to Cincinnati.

Thanks!
I am very excited to get to know the city.
From viewing through Google maps and hearing from friends back in Dallas, it seems/sounds like a very beautiful place.

Hehe, After I finished the first day of Level 4, I told my wife "I think these classes may have just stopped being fun and started being work"
Of course I haven't stopped yet.

PS Extreme Close Quarters is one humbling class.

Do you not shoot at many indoor ranges?

Lake Bailee near new Miami is pretty easy going. They don't have drills or anything but you can do some tactical shooting (within reason) when it's not busy.
