My good buddy FrozenWinter and I are gonna be stopping in Dayton for a couple days (15-17AUG) on our way down to the 3-gun at Rockcastle, so I thought I'd throw something in here. We're already planning on visiting the Air Force Museum (which is the primary reason for our side trip), but we're going to have the better part of two and a half days to kill before we head for Kentucky, so we're sort of in the market for some other suggestions for things to do -- though I believe the good Buckeye67 is going to be doing some tour guiding for us, as well.
Anyway, any can't-miss spots in the area? Also, if anybody would be up for a get-together for some dinner or some such, that'd sure be fun |

One can't miss place to go to is Bill's Donuts in Centerville (exit 4 on 675). Open 24/7 and in the top 50 donut shops in the US.
Also if you like Korean cuisine - Yung's Cafe on Kaufman in Fairborn is a great place to get Korean food. They make their own kimchi and my go to on the menu is Bi Bim Bap. Doesn't look like much of a restaurant, but it has great food. I'll have to see what I have planned that weekend - it would be great to do a meet and greet. |

It'll take two days to do Wright-Patt properly. View Quote This is very true, otherwise it will be a rush job. They also have the special exhibits section with a limited number of tours each day. First thing you should do when arriving, the earlier the better, is get on the list. Graeter's Ice Cream in Centerville is good if you've never been to one. So is City BBQ which is right next door. There is also the Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum, but it is about 60mi north of Dayton on I-75. |

I sort of figured that would be the case, but I don't know that we'll really have time for two days for it. Thanks for all the suggestions so far |

Lived in Fairborn for 4 years while wife was going to Wright State.
If you are into electronics (and if they are open), check out Midwest Surplus Electronics located in the thriving metropolis of downtown Fairborn. Also check out Mendelsons located in Dayton. They have a bigassed black water-tower on the warehouse roof. Be sure to bring some disposable income since I am sure you will find something worth blowing it on. You can hit up Gander Mountain off of I-70, always a good time. Run out to Yellow Springs and see the town that Dave Chappelle grew up in, and still frequents. True story, my wife and I were crossing the street there when he almost ran us over in his Mercedes. I couldn't have been more excited about almost being run over by a comedian. Want more electronics/radio stuffs and are up for a drive? Go North up to Fair Radio an hour or so and see what they have to offer. Once again, BRING DISPOSABLE INCOME. Hope that helps! |

I'm thinking either somewhere around Fairfield Mall area again or maybe The Greene? ETA: Logan's wasn't bad last time. The Pub at the Greene is nice, but would likely be busy on Friday. Elsa's on Wilmington could be a winner too. |

I know last Wednesday was busy out there - but that was because Kevin Bacon and his band were there (the Bacon Bros.). Just let me know whatever is decided. |

Just a quick bump. We are still on for tonight at 7 PM. For identification purposes I will be wearing a black Ohio hometown forum T-shirt and a gray Cincinnati Reds baseball cap.
