Seems they need a new guy to make sure the APPS are correct.

You think they had a problem with the old guy?

Oh well I hope the new guy doesn't accidentally put a politician on that list, lord knows a few have the criminal background to get them on it.

I did not see a requirement to be a sworn law enforcement officer in that job description, is it implied in the CIS I position or is it truly not required for a job that looks to be a data collection/analyst position?  Also, there was no salary range given.

The CIS position is a non-sworn support position.  No LE authority and not armed.

That's good.  It opens the door for a lot more people to apply.

This job posting is very different than any other ones I've looked at.  I don't see any specific educational requirements or past professional experience.  While this leaves the position open to a wide variety of candidates, it provides much less information about the criteria they will use to select the future employee.  As a result, potential candidates cannot understand of their capabilities are appropriate or whether they are under-qualified or over-qualified.

Off the listing.

WHO MAY APPLY:

DOJ AND OTHER: Individuals who are currently in this classification, eligible for lateral transfer, reachable on a current employment list for this classification, or former state employees with reinstatement eligibility.

SROA/SURPLUS: Individuals with SROA/Surplus status. Surplus candidates must submit a copy of their Surplus letter. Please visitCalHR's web site for more information on the SROA and Surplus programs.

I only know one DOJ guy and he's retiring. Plus he ain't a gun guy so it would be pointless to tell him about it.

Are you saying only those two categories may apply - present and former employees?  I did not read it that way but never read a State of California job posting before, either.

From how I read it that's my understanding.  It did have the boxes next to those categories checked. So I'm thinking yes.

Do we have any DOJ here?

So, they aren't hiring.  It isn't a new job for someone who doesn't have one.  They are promoting or transferring someone.
