"no grey area" that a total ban is unconstitutional. Not even close to "no grey area... of restrictive CCW like CA's, etc. being unconstitutional"

It's okay, leelaw, if you don't want to come along, we'll just celebrate this obvious gun rights court victory without you.

I'm celebrating the win for DC; however the reality is that the verbiage the justices used doesn't appear to apply for folks like us, and what it likely will do is open a restrictive (albiet not-total-ban) CCW process in DC.... much like the ruling on the total handgun ban opened a laborous and restrictive handgun registration process in DC. A step in the right direction, but lots of uphill to go.

Although Peruta was quoted extensively in the decision, it appears that the decision is going to have only nominal improvements over what we got from Peruta and the other decisions.  That's because, the DC laws were even worse than ours.  This decision basically brings DC to where we are.  Between Peruta and the Chicago rulings, it appears that shall issue will be the norm (fingers crossed), the sticky part being restrictions on where and when you can carry.

07-28-14, Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department Additional Guidance Order

As of 07-28-14...
1. Residents of Washington DC, can now carry, openly or concealed, a registered handgun.
2. Non-residents of Washington DC that have a licensed to carry a handgun or can legally carry a handgun under the laws of their State of residence , can now carry, openly or concealed, a handgun.
This does not apply to prohibited persons or persons under the age of 18.

Pretty much, Washington DC Police Department just declared "constitutional carry" of handguns in Washington DC.

Some judge just issued a stay on the ruling so no more guns in DC.  It was a nice 2 days while it lasted though.
