South beach
Bayside Marketplace
Hollywood Beach - "boardwalk" area has been completely redone
Margaritaville Resort
Hard Rock Hotel and Casino
Tootsie's Cabaret

Lmao.  He did say family.  I can tell you that Tootsie's does have excellent Lemon Pepper wings though.

I would stay in the the north beach area, south beach has gotten pretty 'diverse' and interesting on holiday weekends. Go to dolphin mall, bayside market place and take a tour boat around the bay, wynwood area is pretty good at night (watch out in the outer areas). Stay away from the side streets along I95 as they are hot. If you can tolerate the heat and humidity go out to the Everglades and take an airboat ride, tootsies cabaret does have some amazing wings too if you like meat hit up Fogo de Chao in south beach, for drinks Montys is across the street and has a nice atmosphere.

Key West can be weird... If you haven't been may be a good trip but there isn't much to do for kids. I usually go for work so haven't really explored any kids activities.

I was just there last week and the fairfield Inn in Key West on Roosevelt street the west side of the island is aways good and i think i paid 145 night. Marriott Beachside in KW is a really nice resort and was only 183 night plus plus plus.

If TX is a reciprocal state cc is GTG just not in a bar (restaurant with bar is ok if not seated at the bar), no sports events, banks, and gov buildings. I think unless something changed.

Texas CHL is good here, banks are not prohibited either.

Key West is just an option since we have never been there before.
We think about Hop-on Hop-off tour, so at least it stops on some of the locations we might like to go.  Using car is ok, but finding parking can be a problem.  What do you guys think?
Thanks for a heads up on CC.

Parking is a pain in KW and south beach (not New York bad but it's bad) make sure the hits your staying it has onsite parking and if they charge for it. Uber is your friend here.

+1 on über... The drive to KW is about 3-3.5 hours each way. If for a day trip probably not worth it.

For hotels, check out the Doral area, near Trump Doral. Decent hotels there for that price range and you'll be close to major highways. Very safe too. Check out Aloft Doral.

I'd stay away from Miami Beach. You'll get ripped off. Everything is overpriced especially hotels and dining. Just good for taking a stroll through ocean drive.

Doral also has a new shopping center called Cityplace. Good restaurants, live music, movie theater and bowling.

Dolphin mall is a great choice for tourists. Also good food and entertainment. Kids will like Dave and Busters and the bowling place.

For adult fun I'd check out Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Wynwood might be boring depending on the age of your kids. The most interesting attraction there are the art murals that cover the walls throughout the eight square blocks or so. A few art galleries and overpriced dining. I usually just drive by or take a brief stroll when I'm showing family or friends that visit.

Lastly i would also recommend taking a drive through Sunset Place and Coconut Grove, lots of family-friendly dining spots. Sunset place also has an arcade place the kids love.

For adult fun, Sunset Place is also within walking distance of BT's Gentlemens Club which I find to be the best strip club in Miami. Not as big as tootsies but great experience overall.

One last thing. Stay away from the Miami Science Museum. Huge rip off, a lot of nothing and a big waste of time.
