Hi Florida HTF!

I am looking at a job opening in Kissimmee. We are moving from Michigan to Texas for a year then to ??? and Kissimmee is one of the options of where to move after Texas. What is the city like and general opinion on living there. From some of my research it doesn't point to all that great. I grew up in a tourist town so I get the tourism thing with the parks. Watersports/boating/fishing is a big priority as well as outdoor longer ranges. Florida is better on gun laws it seems than Michigan, all the NFA and CCW you want, no open carry. Any things I'm missing?

thanks!

Gun porn as thanks (I don't remember why I put a candle on the gun):

I work in orlando, live in Polk county and I don't go to Kissimmee for anything! It's a dump and getting worse. All it's hotels from its hay day are filled with hookers, druggies and fsa folk. The town is pretty much ground zero for the mass exodus from  Puerto Rico.

this is true look into living in Davenport about 12 miles further down 4  much much nicer area

Kissimmee has awful traffic it is all red lights

Celebration is very expensive tightly regulated community

st. Cloud is nice but small & full of opiate addicts but st cloud is nice

no ranges within an hour or so. but a nice game preserve at three lakes.

seriously you need to look at davenport.

Celebration looks nice but has a serious crime problem because It is on the door step of kiss and its right off 192. My wife works at celebration hospital and many of her co workers live there in celebration. They tell her all about the crime and most of them lost so many packages to porche pirates that they don't order online anymore. Winter garden is exploding,  some spots of davenport are ok (off 27) davenport proper is just as run down and po dunk as kiss.

Do you want a community home or land?

I stopped in downtown Kissimmee once a few years ago.

I no shit saw a hispanic couple walk up to a restaurant that has outside seating, grab a plate of food each and silverware as soon as a waiter had placed it on a customers table, continued walking down the street and ate it. Everyone just stood around like ???

Poor diners probably were on vacation thinking it's Disney World and everything is so nice and lovely...

Seems to have some crime and transient problems is what I'm hearing from people. Maybe not the best area due to the local economy (parks and tourist stuff)

Id ideally like to live on the water and then have land elsewhere to shoot on if there are no ranges in the area.

Thanks for all the advice, I'll keep the job on the back burner but not going to commit yet.

I would look more toward the St. Cloud/Lake Nona areas for a little bit nicer area that is more rural.  Narcoossee has some really nice houses with a little bit of acreage.  We used to go shooting at friends' houses out that way quite a bit.  Only about a 20 min drive into Kissimmee, but you avoid a lot of the more trashy aspects of it.
