I bought a spare Surefire SB from AU while back when the getting was good on them and I’ve been trying to figure out what to build around it until I stumbled across this thread. I think I’m going to go for a CAG Clone around the brownells receivers but 1 thing has me confused. I thought these were 10.4" (slightly longer than a mk18 because of the piston) barrels until I started looking for the geissele rail and find that those are 10.5". From all the pictures I’ve seen it look is like there is a little gap between the can and rail. What am I missing here?

ETA: vanquishings’ gun above is exactly what I’m going for. Not a good angle to see the gap between the rail and can but you get the idea.

Same process, mine just came out a different shade. Anodization is a temperamental process. Augee was a huge help throughout the process.

I was going to get an AR15 upper, lower, rail and buffer tube anodized OD green so I contacted Outlaw Anodizing in Houston, TX and their prices were very reasonable. I never bothered going through with it cause I’m lazy but their work looked great.

Nice work. I can tell from looking at your pic that the same process was not used. Yours looks like some dye was added to the process, or perhaps the prep work was done differently, which is why yours looks a bit more colorfast, and looks pretty "matchy" to the Geissele DDC tones. It looks great - not picking - just saying it was a different process. You have one of the best outcomes I've seen.

It's a 2016/2017 project. HKILLER here is who you should get in touch with regarding ano (though I'm honestly not 100% it's his account) - but last I heard he closed up shop. You can get that engraving done plenty of places. NoScoE30 did all the custom barrel/machining work. A lot of the parts specific to this clone (like the XPS3, the Wilcox kit, and the RAL HK furniture) were hard to track down. It was a fun thing to have come together.

The Geissele rail is slightly longer and almost 1 oz heavier, however it is a bit more narrow and therefore feels better in the hand to me. Cheers
