A bit high but I suspect he will get it.  Decent Inlands can still be found in the $750 range.  Most anything else will be higher.  Clean looking piece.

I'm no expert.  Probably know enough to be dangerous.  I agree with Ameshawki.

That carbine has the desirable possibly unmessed with vibe going.  No bay lug and no marking on the barrel to make it look like it ever had one.   The safety looks like someone put that in there though, to make it more early style.  It's too nice.  IMHO.   But if it's a USGI part, it's no biggie.   Flat bolt are indicative on original, earlier config too.  Which raises value.

It looks nice.   I have a standard products and my Dad has an inland.  They are both nice. The inland seems a little nicer in certain ways, but Standard Products are more rare.  Way less made.

It looks like it's been messed with plenty IMO.

$925 is not unreasonable... as a mixmaster with some early features and may be a bargain

Standard Product Sn 218xxxx - receiver was manufactured between Jan and Mar 1944

Underwood Barrel looks to be dated 1-44 and Underwood supplied barrels to Standard

Good chance that the barrel is original to receiver

Standard was still using type B barrel bands in 1944, flat bolts; however they were using type B adjustable milled rear sights that may explain the early and late features  The push button safety is a Winchester.

Does the stock have a SHB or SJ in the sling cut?
Does  the handguard have SHB or SJ
There are Std Products markings for stock and handguard

If you want it and the barrel looks good .... they are a finite supply

They're both sweet.  The second one is obviously an arsenal rebuild while the first one is possibly not, unless like vellnueve said is right and somebody messed with it.  The stock on the first one looks like it's been sanded.  You can see how the trigger group is more exposed.   But usually if there has been a bayo lug installed, you can see the wear on the barrel.   I might not be seeing it though.

The second one it pretty sweet.  The potbelly stocks are cool.

I really don't think you could go wrong either way....  More of which one do you like better.  That's just my thoughts.  You could see which guy would take less money to make it worth your while.  925 is getting up there in price.

I'd have been all over the Standard Products, too.

I've been wanting one for a while now. They were made about 30-35 miles from where I live and about 30 miles from where I grew up.

That's kinda neat, IMO.
