So... I was thinking of adding a magpul AFG to my m1a. Any experience for or against would be appreciated.

Id suggest a synthetic stock. Add a rail section and the AFG.

Shoot, I've seen someone that modded a stock to use one but can't remember who. I believe it was a wood stock as well. I'll see if I can at least rustle up a pic.

I like the look I have with mine installed.  A little dremel work and I was able to mount a small section of rail.

I have one on mine. It's installed on a Troy MCS chassis and I like how it shoots.
