I think the hotlink shows his name in it.  I have a couple of pics like that where he's holding an M14 or M21 and I didn't know he even used one in Vietnam.  The books I read were all about the Winchester with the 8x scope from the 03A1 sniper rifle..........  So it was a little confusing.  But it could very well be.  I've seen pics of him as an older person and it looks like it COULD be him.  I have no clue though.

I'm not sure about the one above but this one below the hotlink says it's Carlo also.

What flash hider are you using on the Mini? Do you know if it will work on a Mini-30, as well? I had a similar project in mind for my Mini-30 Tactical.

JarHead,

Its from MFIAP.com. The one I used has a 1/2 X 28 thread. However they sell one for .300 Black Out which I believe should work for your Mini-30, as it has a 5/8 X 24 thread. It also happens to be on sale.

http://mfiap.com/i-15774053-mfi-hk-style-g28-muzzle-brake-barrel-extension-3-875-long-for-300-black-out-thread-5-8-x-24-tpi.html

Shipped quickly when I ordered mine. Quality is nice, and it threaded on very smoothly. I also found it interesting that they consider it a muzzle break, not a flash hider. Functionally really doesn't matter but living in a ban state, it can.

Be sure to post pics of your project too!

Chris

Thank you.

I hope to get back to a range sometime soon... my day job is keeping
me really busy the last couple months, and there's no end in sight.

Very nice... I had my Crazy Horse set up in a similar fashion a few years ago.
Have you tried the 1.25" cheek riser yet?

Do I see an EBR trigger shoe? :-)

I'm in the process of getting organized for future travels.

You sure can pack a lot of punch into a Pelican 1700 case.
EDIT: I removed & sold the HERA folder, so I must reorganize in a larger Pelican case.

The rifle is a CQB-16 built for me in 2010 by Smith Enterprise on a Poly Tech receiver that I supplied, it made it's world debut at SHOT SHOW '11. The 16.25" standard weight barrel has 4 grooves, and a 1:10 ROT... it is chambered for M118 LR. Ron Smith said it would be a 1 MOA rifle, but I have gotten sub MOA groups with Portuguese NATO ball. The suppressor is an old Fisher/SEI can that has been updated to current Wind Talker specifications, and it attaches to a DC Vortex on SEI's SOCOM 16 muzzle device kit including the oversize gas plug.

The chassis stock is a lightweight Blackfeather (RS) imported from Canada by http://m14ebr.us/ (me). I am using the optional monolithic top rail (LSP), and the high butt stock adapter (HBA). The Poly Tech trigger group has SEI's full MAX-PAK upgrade, and it has an M14 EBR trigger shoe. The optic is an Aimpoint Comp M4 with TROY battle sights that co-witness. The butt stock is a Magpul CTR with a nice recoil pad from MDT.

SEI's CQB-16 was originally requested by a group at Fort Bragg, but 0bamanomics killed the program.
