I attempted to slap a Magpul handguard on my work gun and I wasn't able to do so as the magazine cap wasn't threaded "deep" enough to keep the barrel in place without the sling mount acting as a spacer.  I can't use the sling mount as it gets in the way of the handguard.

Some guidance would be nice.

I have magpul furniture on my  14.5" 870 and use a Scattergun Technologies +1 mag extension.
