I haven't seen the KSG Tactical yet. We have sold a hand full of the standard KSG at the Academy Sports where I work. $899.99 is a bit steep for what you get.
what about the shockwave? factory born, 26" OAL, no stock, 14" bbl?

The factory no stock makes the difference.
The standard 18.5" bbl KSG is 26.1"OAL. What would be gained trying to make a non-NFA shorter barreled KSG? If you shortened the bbl to 14",then something that was not a stock would have to extend the overall length to at least 26", without a stock from the factory.

Waylon stated if it's 26/14 it's sbs; i don't think that's the case; i see your point about the standard KSG
i used the shockwave as an example; i just want as small as i can get without being illegal;
why wouldn't the KSG Tactical form 4 for $5 if it's built like that from the mfg, like the Mossberg compact cruiser?

The standard 18.5" bbl KSG is 26.1" OAL.
If they installed 14" bbl, and kept the stock, then it would be a 14/21.6 SBS.
Kel-tec could eliminate the stock, and make an AOW.

You're more than welcome to think what you want.
If it's a shotgun (as opposed to a firearm), and is <26" overall and/or has a barrel <18", it's a short-barreled shotgun.
The KSG Tactical is a SBS and requires NFA registration, however Kel-Tec makes a "Tactical" model with the same style handguard and an extended barrel.
This item was designed to be Form 1 ready. Send in the paperwork, cut the barrel once approved. If any dealers have a short KSG for sale OTC I would bet it is this model.
