So I finally got in line to join the cool kids club.
I've got form 1s for a SBR and a suppressor pending. I'm building a 300 blackout 10" pistol to host the short barreled upper for the time being.
I bought a 10" AR Stoner hand guard on sale with the intention of cutting it to fit, but my SD tactical tube almost fit inside it. The I.D. measured about .020 too small. So I opened up the end of the handguard with a dremel.
The tube measures 1.505" and the hand guard averages about 1.535" now. Obviously the tube fits now, but it doesn't seem like much clearance. I'm thinking barrel whip and handguard damage. Or the suppressor interfering with hand guard and negating the accuracy bonus for free floating the hand guard.
So what would be the recommended clearance between the hand guard and a 12" suppressor on a 10" medium profile barrel?
