Hello All,
Not sure if this would be the right section to post, so please move if necessary. I am looking to build a .22LR upper that will keep most rounds subsonic. I am thinking of a 4 or a 4.5 inch barrel. I have a spectre II, element II, RF22 and Mask in jail. I am only wanting a couple inches of the can to stick out of the rail. I have tried searching and haven't come up with much. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Post pics if you have them and include the build specs. I bet a lot of .22 cans are in jail, with many of us getting our hosts in line. I feel this thread will be helpful to anyone trying to build a dedicated .22LR upper. Thanks!

Nice Build!! Thank you for the specs and pic. Looks very similar to what I want to do. Has it ran reliably?

The cmmg 4.5" barrel setup is awesome.  Basically 100% reliability and super quiet with can.

This is cmmg 4.5" barrel with cmmg stainless bolt
Magpul k grip, mbus pro
Armaspec stock on lwrc ultra compact buffer tube
Slr 7" rail with pa micro in fortis absolute cowitness mount

100% with everything I have tried, but now all I use is CCI standard velocity.  Very quiet!  I made a right hand version for my grandson with similar results.

ETA:  I first built them with Timney 3lb triggers and had sporadic ignition problems.  After talking with Tim @ Taccom, he explained tolerance stacking and said to try a heavier trigger and pressure plug.  POF trigger and pressure plug transformed them immediately.

Nice looking with that PDW stock! Going to probably go with the CMMG setup like ones posted!

I managed to put together a dedicated .22 upper a while back thanks to a good deal on gunbroker
https://scontent.forf1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/14054014_10106717803415038_8578979339927062774_n.jpg?oh=3f0e894117e6868a9bfb8283f7c2491e&oe=584971C5

I assume the gunbroker parts are:
Taccom 8.5" barrel
Taccom bolt
Chinese knock-off keymod rail
Black Dog magazine
$75 shipped

Added an anderson upper and charging handle
$80 shipped

Had the sights and sling mount laying around so...
$0

Total, $155

Runs like a top, and is reasonably accurate once I put some soda-can shims between the hand guard and barrel nut.

CCI standard sounds like a staple-gun through the SiCo sparrow. Bulk ammo is supersonic though, so I plan to chop 4" off one of these days.

My 22/45 upper / MK III lower FrankenRuger keeps bulk ammo subsonic, and it has a 4.4" barrel.

Taccom makes 4.5" barrels, so does CMMG. Beyer Barrels makes a 4.7"

Here's my 22lr pistol (I use one of my SBR lowers usually, but also put it on my spare pistol lowers when all the other SBR's are configured)

It's an androcorp upper with sico sparrow.

From what I understand, it's a CMMG bolt, 4 inch barrel, and 7 inch SLR rail.

Mine's built using a taccom 4" barrel and taccom bolt assembly.

I had some trouble with feeding when I ran black dog mags, but it runs great using m&P 15-22 mags.

Home built upper, 5.75" cut down barrel with spikes fake can, yhm mini quad rail, APG folding stock. Keeps abt 50% of the rounds subsonic. If doing it again, I'd go the cmmg 4.5 barrel route.
