I saw that Ballistic Advantage had 8.3" Hanson SS barrels on sale today... So I snagged one - LINK

I will be using this upper with a Rugged Razor suppressor, so I will need a rail that leaves enough clearance to engage the locking collar

Best I can figure a ~ 7.4" rail will be my max rail length, but I won't know for sure until my barrel gets here and I can mock it up with a muzzle device.

Some of the options I am looking at:

- Troy Alpha 7.2"
- BCM KMR 7"
- SLR SOLO 7"

Any other suggestions?

Pics of your 8-8.5" rigs would be greatly appreciated.

My 300BO has an 8.5" KAK barrel and a 10" Seekins MCSR hand guard.

The end of the hand guard is 2.25" from the shoulder, not the end of the barrel.  Just pulled it out of the safe and measured.

I would think anything in the 7" range would work to keep the mount clear of the hand guard.

I do have (1) Troy Alpha.  It's well made but I'm in the process of making a tape switch mount for it since there aren't any out there.  It's not very well supported.  To mount a light I had to mount a rail and then mount the light, which is more bulky than I would like.  Oh, and F#&K Troy before someone beats me to it.

Im not certain on those suppressors specifically but it seems most manufacturers require a .5" to .75" longer barrel then handguard length.  So for 8.3" you're going to want a 7.75" or 7.5" rail. I would go on the shorter end to be safe.

Handguards are personal preference really.  I've been thinking about doing something simliar along the lines with the carbine length Aero COP monolithic upper.

If you had a little more meat on the barrel you could have gone with a knights urxiii8. Looks great on an 8.5 noveske barrel.

I run a noveske NSR on my 8.2 inch noveske.

I like it.

I'm using the same can plus a surge with a 7" Larue and 8" Seekins 300 blk barrel. My 9" Larue with 10.5" barrel leaves around 3/4" give or take visible.

Ya, BCM and Noveske need to get their heads out of their asses

Here is my KAK value line 8.5" barrel with a SLR 8" MLOK rail. Sits flush for a Ferfrans CRD but I'm thinking about going with a 10" rail with a tucked KX5 for a little extra rail-estate

Here's my setup: 8" barrel, 7" MI gen3 M-LOK hand guard, Razor. You can't see the gap because of the cantilever mount, but it's about 3/16"

I put a YHM on Noveske barreled upper because I am cheap (well, except for the barrel ) and that is all I had ever used.  There are so many sexy rails out there right now, it would be really hard to choose.

I have a newer one with a Samson and one with Midwest.  I like how slim and light they are making them now.

OP has a tough choice to make.

Exactly the look that I'm looking for...  Except I will probably go with the SLR

How does the the Razor sound with Subs?

I was originally going to get the SLR ION Lite, until MI released the G3. I'm sure the SLR is super nice, but I couldn't see how it was $100 more.

I think the Razor sounds great, but it's my first and only can, so I don't have a whole lot to compare it to. My SOT has a Surge demo, and we shot them back to back. The Surge is quieter, but not so much that I regret the Razor at all.

Here is my CMMG 8.0” 300BLK w/Seekins Precision 10” MCSR. I am running the Noveske KX5 under the rail.

You may want to fill up that MCSR with a KX3. The MCSR has a HUGE ID/OD

I think M-lok is a bit more stout, but the BCM keymod covers take a good handguard (KMR) with a good mounting system and make it a great handguard.

NSR is OK.  I prefer the round contours the BCM covers make on the KMR, the extra mounting surfaces, and the rougher texture.

I have a 7" KMR on an 8.3" .300 barrel, with an Omega on an ASR mount that fits perfectly.

8" barrel with Carbine KAC FF RAS and Sandman S. I use to have a picture showing clearance but it was very close.
