Can somebody recommend a competent, reasonable engraver with NFA experience?
Thanks! |

Tar Heel State Firearms Plenty of us in the suppressor forum have used THSF. I have a lower arriving back to me tomorrow from them. |
|
I've used ident marking for all of my SBRs. They were able to do inside the trigger area even with an integrated trigger guard.

MolonLabe.com
They advertise here in the NFA section of the EE and they are very reasonably priced and ship fast as hell. My box left my door in NY on Monday and went to Arizona and had it back in NY by the following Monday. |

Check out Gray Laser Engraving. Bill has plenty of NFA experience, and he's engraved both of my SBR lowers.

Veritas did an outstanding job engraving inside the mag well lip with excellent communication and they send a digital proof before engraving to ensure accuracy.

Where in VA are you located? I just got mine done at a jeweler in Blackstone picking it up Friday

Trying to remember who does their MP5 engravings either under the rear cap, or on the receiver tang?
Ive seen photos, just can't recall which engravers do it there. |
|
+1 on THSF. They did an excellent job on mine, and turn around was fast. Would recommend them highly.

View Quote It's gotta be "visible," so if it's COVERED by anything I think you'd have some issues if it were ever inspected. One of the better places for unobtrusive engraving is around the trigger hole in a lower. And I don't personally "get" hiding SBR engraving. Mine are engraved in plain sight. The engraving doesn't have to be 1/2" tall or anything... Just my 2¢ on that. |

Nothing like going to the trouble and expense of engraving and it potentially not being compliant. |

THSF just did one of my lowers. I was in the Charlotte area visiting family so I took it by their shop and waited while it was engraved. It took them about 5 min. I didn't even have to strip the lower, just took the stock off. Looks just like 021411's pic above, and in the same location. It's amazing to me that they can put it there and not even have to remove the trigger guard. The laser they use is not cheap but they said that it will be paid for in less than a year. They are doing lots of lowers at $30 bucks a pop.
I can't say enough good things about their work......... |
|
just received another lower (non-nfa engraving) back from THSF. Good to go

First two I wanted legal and done quick; so I heard that Things Remembered at the mall could do it under the trigger guard.
Well maybe that threads poster's Things Remembered could. The one I went to didn't / couldn't; then she got the font wrong; legal and on the side of the mag well though CoC viiolation; Legal and cheap <$35 each; just babysit whoever is doing the engraving. And you'll need to use a little Birchwood Casey's Aluminum Black or the engraving will be bright raw aluminum. It does stand out though Big picture - doesn't matter; i'm not going to sweat the little things. Next two went to Veritas Machining.... Outstanding people to work with. |

Another one for Veritas Machining. Just got my lower back, great service, fast, and excellent work, They sent a mock up for approval before doing the work.

That's something I hadn't thought about, since I've hand-carried my lowers to Gray Laser Engraving... I'm sure Bill does something like that, since he tweaked the way the engraving looked as I watched him do the setup. |

Veritas EXCELLENT communication bends over backwards to get it done the way you want it. height, font, size, depth, they never said no. Round trip took 7 days. I mailed on Friday, got back the next Friday http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/benelliman2/WP_20151214_030_zpsdhvfrrwu.jpg View Quote That was quick! Veritas took all of 9 days to get mine back (there and back) Very good communications and turn time. I am pleased. |

Jeff will do it by appt. 15 min, 100 bucks, excellent work
[email protected] Oakton, Va 703-217-8781. Calling him will get a faster response than email. |

I had my SBR engraved at a local machine shop. $20.00and 30 min later - I walked out the door with some damn fine laser engraving....
But - when your local machine shop is located 20 miles from the base who supplies US SOCOM, USN, NECC, WARCOM and AFSOC with their weapons.... it tends to be well outfitted |

Anyone know what the max characters are for an under the trigger guard engraving? I gotta decide if I need to make another trust.

Just sent mine to TAR HEEL STATE Monday got it back today. 5 days there and back. Would deal with them again in a heartbeat.

Thanks to everyone who recommended THSF, used them this time around and I'm impressed. Faster, cheaper and quite frankly better quality than Orion who I used last time. Will definitely use them again.
