Looking to SBR a Colt 6920. Want an 11.5" barrel but would take a 10.3". Who's got good prices on fully assembled barrels, or where should I be looking?

Check out Ballistic Advantage or Faxon. Just a heads up though, Faxon's is a middy

any reason you don't want to send your 6920 barrel to ADCO and have them cut it down?

Ah, you know, I hadn't really thought of that...

I had them do a Ruger 22/45 barrel for me years ago. Really good work.

Do it, that way you could split the difference and go 10.9 with a 10 inch rail

That would have been pertinent information in the original post.

None of the aforementioned solutions will work as Ballistic Advantage and Faxon don't make skinny 11.5" barrels, having ADCO cut it down isn't going to work because of the M203 notch.

The barrel you want is a very difficult one to find.

I built a retro upper for my M-16, used Tony's bbl and retro handguards.

More pertinent information: I don't actually care if it's an exact Commando clone. Just want a Commando-ish clone and will probably just send the barrel out to Adco and not have any re-profile work done, to include some weirdness with the M4 step.

Look forward to seeing pics of it when your done.

Seriously considering having all my carbine gas 16's cut down.

I'm in the same boat as you OP.
I'm waiting on the form 1 so I can give my 16" Armalite carbine an 11.5" barrel.
My 10.3" DD barrel has been great so I think I'll go with the DD 11.5" Here
Eta: I was thinking about adco but the Armalite barrel has the M4 profile and is 1:9.
For about the same money as chopping and threading I'll just sell the 16" barrel and buy the new DD that's 1:7

If you don't care that it's gov profile, Ballistic Advantage lets you order the barrel and add an FSB for $40:

That ain't too bad, and it's probably what I'd do.  Unless you want to look around for one of the DD lightweight profile barrels with the FSB.

I have 3 AR's with BA barrels. They are excellent barrels. I just sent one in to BA to have the gas block pinned.

They are nitride treated inside and out. I haven't seen a tougher metal treatment. Compared to my chrome lined barrels they are a lot easier to clean. I just run a couple of patches through the barrel and I'm done.

You can't go wrong with Ballistic Advantage barrels. I have two of them and the next time I need a barrel it will come from BA.
