I'm looking to build a 6.8spc SBR to run with a can.  This will be an additional piggie shooter.
The thing I'm worried is blast baffle erosion with the 6.8spc.  I run a 10.3" 5.56, but I think 12.5" should be the shortest I should go with the added power of the 6.8spc.
Is this sound thinking? Anyone shooting one with a 10.5" tube?
Thanks boys,

Phil

I know bigwaylon (suppressor mod) does.

6.8 was designed for shorter barrels than 5.56, I don't see why you'd have to limit yourself. IMO a 10.5" 6.8 would be fine depending on the manufacturer's ratings for the silencer.

I use a 10.5" 6.8 with a Gemtech Quicksand suppressor.  Per Gemtech, that suppressor is rated fine for a 10.5" 6.8.  No problems so far, and a few hogs killed with it.

Note:  I did have some carbon build up in the first chamber from having fired 1000's of subsonic 300BLK rounds with M160 frangible bullets.  The higher pressure of the 6.8 (compared to my low pressure Blackout rounds) blasted the build up out of the expansion chamber and off the first baffle.  No noticeable erosion seen from using the 6.8.

Just get a can that's warrantied for the 6.8 in the barrel length your gonna use. Plus the use of a break will help as a sacrificial blast baffle.  One can you can't use is a Omega since Silencerco considers the 6.8 & 6.5 Grendel like a 308.

I have a 12.5" 6.8 and a Crux Ark 30 in jail that 6.8 will be solely shit through it.  It's rated full auto down to a 7.5" barrel win their brake attachment.

To be clear, SiCo only does that with the Omega. They group 6.8 (and maybe 6.5?) with 5.56 in the Specwar and Saker.

that's why I said the Omega, guess we need to be very clear though. honestly I would not assume they clump the 6.8 or 6.5G with the 556. I always ask. Or use the 308 length if it's at my barrel Length of 12.5".   That's just me I guess

M42K - 7,000+ rounds on a 10.5" factory LWRC 6.8 SBR with a flash hider mount. I did run about 200 rounds through it with a brake mount and couldn't stand the noise.
