I have other SBRs to choose from, but none in 22lr.  The 10/22 was only used to qualify at an Appleseed shoot and then it was forgotten in the safe.  I am trying to decide if I should sell it and SBR something else or SBR the 10/22.

Are the HK licensed GSG 5 type rifles any good or are they just pot metal?  Suggestions welcome.

I sbrd mine and put it in a HTA stock.

If you don't want to sbr is and plan on suppressing it, you could use a TAC-Sol barrel and drop your overall length down.

You could sbr it and then suppress it and add a slide stock for the entertainment.... Slide fire full auto that just makes a little clapping sound from the loud bolt....

Thanks for the suggestions.  I looked at the Tacsol barrel and it is a good idea.  I think if I wanted to do the sbr route, I would go for a 5" or so barrel with the stock modified to accommodate the can.

Not quite this short though.

I have the SBX barrel on mine.  Pretty happy with it but I'm also tempted to SBR it.

Just remember that length over 4" between 4-5" will make most 1250 bulk packs supersonic on colder days... So it will limit your use to standard velocities. A primary buying factor for the sbr is keeping those suppressed rounds quiet...

Ahhh, good to know.  Man, 4" is really short.

Yeah, it's worth it. Mine is probably my most used SBR.

This 10/22 was a Christmas present from my parents almost,30 years ago. It was just a base model, birch stock 10/22.

I started with the engraving while I was waiting for my Form 1 to come back. It was done in my friend's garage using his Tormach CNC milling machine. Once the approved Form 1 came back I looked for a barrel. A friend at a major manufacturer said there was a barrel of 10/22 take-off barrels left over from integral suppressor installations. A customer sent in his 10/22 with one of the stainless steel factory Ruger hammer forged target barrels. I bought that for a few dollars more than nothing and they even shortened it to 7" and threaded it 1/2-28 so I could use any .22 caliber muzzle device I wanted. I chose an A2 after some experimentation. A YHM Phantom was just too damn long and defeated the purpose of an SBR. Then an old 3-prong FH made it look like a cheap ray gun from an old 1950's B&W space show. A gunsmith friend of mine Cerakoted the barrel and flash hider black. Then a shortened Butler Creek folder and a Trijicon Reflex I had in the parts box finished it off.

Charger to SBR.  I am going to cut down the LOP on mine by almost 2".  Here is how it sits now.

I'd SBR an AR lower if you don't already have one and build a .22 upper for it.  Definitely more versatile.

Lol....is an sbr 10/22 worth it?  Yes. They are ultimate pocket rifles.

Ive been thinking about this lately as well. I think I want to SBR a takedown model. Probably do a 5-7" barre,l and a can for sure.

I am planning to take mine down to where the barrel hits the stock. Should make a noticeable difference.

Buy a Charger Take Down.  The front ends swap with no issue...

What do you do with the extra front end?? It's also a lot longer than he wanted. Too bad Ruger didn't do it as a 5".

$400 for a charger. I'd rather just pay the stamp and 100$ to cut current barrel.

But if I see one cheap its good to know they interchange.

Worth it totally.  10" barrel with can recessed.

That's a 4.5" barrel, so a 5" isn't going to look much different.

Or, here's that same gun with a folder.

I like the look of Hawgleg44 and Mahamotoworks' rifles.  Not sure what barrel length to go with now.

I have a 4" and 7" AR 22 SBR so I went with the longer 10" barrel for this one.  I was out shooting some CCI Subsonic HP and you hear the action close over anything else.  This was with my Huntertown Kestrel on it.

You can have more than one barrel for your SBR and with it only being 3 screws to change it, 1 stock and 2 v block it isnt hard to swap barrels.

It ends up being a 2 stamp gun but...

One of my very favorite little toys is a 10/22 SBR in a folding stock with a 10" Thompson Integral barrel.

everything is subsonic and quiet and its small and handy...
