Yeah, it's worth it. Mine is probably my most used SBR.
This 10/22 was a Christmas present from my parents almost,30 years ago. It was just a base model, birch stock 10/22.
I started with the engraving while I was waiting for my Form 1 to come back. It was done in my friend's garage using his Tormach CNC milling machine. Once the approved Form 1 came back I looked for a barrel. A friend at a major manufacturer said there was a barrel of 10/22 take-off barrels left over from integral suppressor installations. A customer sent in his 10/22 with one of the stainless steel factory Ruger hammer forged target barrels. I bought that for a few dollars more than nothing and they even shortened it to 7" and threaded it 1/2-28 so I could use any .22 caliber muzzle device I wanted. I chose an A2 after some experimentation. A YHM Phantom was just too damn long and defeated the purpose of an SBR. Then an old 3-prong FH made it look like a cheap ray gun from an old 1950's B&W space show. A gunsmith friend of mine Cerakoted the barrel and flash hider black. Then a shortened Butler Creek folder and a Trijicon Reflex I had in the parts box finished it off.
