There is a gunshow this weekend and I was thinking of picking up a AR-10 stripped lower and upper kit. Is there many offerings for the AR-10 SBR crowd? I was think around 12"

It's not super-popular because SBRing a 308 causes a lot of the powder to be un-burnt and you lose a lot of the potential of the 308 cartridge. Also, people have said they can be finicky to get to cycle correctly.

That said, I love the fuck out of my 12.5" DMPS LR-308 that I built last year. I had the factory barrel cut down and gas port opened up and installed a syrac ordinance adjustable gas block and I don't recall it ever malfunctioning while suppressed or un-suppressed once I got the gas block adjusted.

It is set up for close-up night time hog destruction.
It's the one on the left. Not pictured is the DBAL I2 laser that stays on it.

Does anyone make a precut 12in barrel? My intent is to suppress it.

Here you go - as short as 7.5"...

Black Hole Weaponry AR-10 Barrels

Take care,

I'm not sure about that. Noveske used to make a 12.5" (project Leonidas) but I think that was discontinued. I know POF makes a full factory SBR with a 10.something" barrel. Not sure about any 12" 308 barrels readily available though.

ETA: Well, there you go^^^^^^^

ETA2: Holy balls! Can you imagine the flame and concussion coming out of a 7.5" 308? lol You could kill a hog and singe the hair off of it at the same time!

Thanks. Those barrels are a nice price too. The stripped lower will cost more.

And you just HAVE to put a muzzle brake/compensator on it!!! It would be like a grenade going off 1 foot away with every shot!!!

(should be fun to watch from a distance, though)

Why not a Sig 716 Pistol, just SBR it and change the buffer tube and put a stock on it, DONE !  It is all setup and ready to run.

They are nice guns - 12.5" barrel, piston gas system - street price of about $1800.00

With a Aero Precision M5 upper/lower set running around $315.00, BHW barrel about $270.00, LPK $70.00... add a good rail and your still below $1000.00. And with either option you have to buy a stock...

I think I'd be building it too.

Have a good weekend,
Bob S.

Gun show is tomorrow so I will see what DPMS and clone style receiver sets are available. I want to use PMAGs so I can't use the AR10 style that use the m14/FAL mags.

The Aero Precision M5 is a DPMS pattern...

Good hunting at the show.

Well there wasn't anything worth looking at, at the gun show so I was kinda disappointed. I have a friend who does 80% DPMS receivers so he is going to give me one to machine out.

I am fairly partial to Hornady myself. I orded 100 of these to see how they go: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/733374/hornady-bullets-30-caliber-308-diameter-150-grain-full-metal-jacket-boat-tail-with-cannelure?cm_vc=S014

I think you will like these bullets. These are my SHTF round I reload using 4064 and 40 grains. I don't use the Cannelure as my OAL is 2.800, but use Lee factory crimp die to put a light crimp. For the money, these bullets are hard to beat. Just wish hornady would make the same bullet with out the cannelure at the same price.

Don't have a chronograph but I do have a .308 SBR. It's 12.5" and the efiled Form 1 took 43 days.
