I'm looking for a new free float for my 11.5" upper.  I'm leaning toward the Troy TRX or the Samson Evolution.  I just can't decide what length looks best.

What do you guys like.  If you have any pics of your 11.5 rig please share them.

I'd be grateful if some of the pics had suppressors mounted too.

Is the Evo able to accept a suppressor with it's ID?

The flats of the muzzle device will be inside the TRX but I'd imagine a QD suppressor would still be able to mount to it.

I had a 7.5" barrel and TRX 7.2 Vtac and the YHM 762 QD can mounted almost seamlessly for a really clean looking setup. The ratcheting plate on the 5.56 brake sat inside the rail just slightly and it was really nice looking.

I don't know if other suppressor mounts will work but I'd imagine there's enough clearance for an AAC 51T but not the SPRM4 mount.

It is, but IIRC, it's trimmed a bit. I run an 11.5 bbl with an 11 trx.  Will add a pic shortly.

Mine is indeed trimmed a touch, exactly how much I don't know.

Mine is stock.  I just did a 16" set up close to the same way, I dig the look, though with a 16" it's more asthetics than function. With the 11.5, it's functional.

Looks like it's just back to the first hole. I'd guess a centimeter.

This worked well, too, with no trimming necessary.

Lower:
Complete Spike's Lower, once part of a Spike's M4LE (Spike's Tactical)
Ergo Grip (Brownells)
Magpul B.A.D. Lever (Brownells)
Blue Force Gear VCAS (Brownells)
M.I Rear Sling Mount

Upper:
Spike's Tactical upper (once part of a Spike's 10.5" upper from AIM Surplus)
14.5" Daniel Defense Lightweight Midlength Barrel (PK Firearms, mounted by ADCO)
SEI/Gemtech G5 Vortex suppressor mount (Gemtech, mounted by ADCO)
13" Troy TRX Extreme rail (Troy, mounted by ADCO)
Nikon M223 1-4x (Bud's Gun Shop)
LaRue Tactical Mount (LaRue)
Surefire Scout (EE) in Gear Sector Offset Mount (Gear Sector)
Troy Front & Rear Battlesight (Troy)
Magpul AFG (Brownells)

Upper assembled by ADCO...fantastic work, reasonably priced, and QUICK turnaround.

Ask and you shall receive

My 11.5" w/ Larue 9.0 rail, its what I'd go with again.

My BCM 11.5" barreled SBR with a DD Lite 10.0 on it.

I'm changing it up now, though. I'm doing a 10.3" DD lightweight barrel with the same 10.0 rail. I'm also almost done with a 10.3" 300BLK build with a 10" Spike's BAR rail. That's my favorite length for an SBR these days.

I'm using a Knights URX Midlength.  By the time you factor in the price of a front BUIS you won't need to buy ($100ish for most these days) the rail comes it at about $180.  They're light, strong, and look pretty good too if you care about that sort of thing.

To get this thread baclk on track... I was on the fence over the same two rails. Ended up going with the Troy TRX-Extreme do to nothing else but the price. Troys 30% off sale forced my hand. I'd researched them to death and couldn't find how one was better than the other. Both sre solid mounting platforms, easily adaptable for whatever you want to add, easy installation, great warranty, good companies. In the end, the price played the biggest pert of my decision.

Agreed.

I picked up the above 11.5" upper with 11" TRX Extreme from AIM back in Sept/Oct. I was very much impressed, and the 13" TRX came about thanks to the 30% off Black Friday special.
