I've been curious lately about how well a Winchester Model 70 chambered in .223 would handle 5.56 cartridges. I know that Savage, for example, sizes the chamber on its .223 rifles to accommodate the 5.56 cartridge as well. Does Winchester do this too by any chance? If not, how is it likely to respond to shooting 5.56 through it, especially given the controlled round feed action?

i have a winchester model 70 in 223

I shoot 556 through it often, for rough zeroing or letting others plink, it works fine, no problems
I have to return some video tapes.
