Hello,

I bought an ATI plastic pistol grip stock for a Maverick 88 and want to shorten the LOP.

The problem I see is with the rubber butt pad, it has a large plastic core that would make reshaping the outer rubber impossible. The rubber around the edge is too thin once moved an 1 inch towards the gun.

Does anyone sell a generic butt pad that is all rubber that I can shape and drill to my shorter spec?


I got the stock for $15.00 and seeing it's an 88, i'm not looking to spend much on this.

Other option is to grind the one that came with it down as much as possible and call it a day.

I found one on line last night and ordered it from Amazon, Hogue EZG Recoil Pad, supposed to be one day shipping so here today, I'll make it work

Buy a Magpul SGA.

I'm doing this on the cheap, The gun had one of those stocks that held 4 rounds on it but I can't grip it, my wrist won't bend that far.

I have an 870 with the Hogue 12" LOP stock set on it and that seems fine, I looked at the Magpul stock for my 80 but I don't like the look of that thing.

Anyway, the Hogue butt pad arrived today (gotta love 1 day free shipping) and I chopped the pistol grip stock with my hand held band saw.

It didn't cut straight so i'll need to hand file it down but I can tell i'll like the shorter length, i'll be able to shoulder like my ARs.
