Does anyone know someone that could remove a dent from a shotgun barrel ? I checked Brownell's for a dent removal tool, but it's over 450.00 !!!
This is a shotgun I inherited and the barrel is numbered to the receiver, so I would like to try and get it fixed.

Thanks for any help.

I'm pretty sure my friend in Indiana hs one.If you don't find anyone closer to you send me an IM and I'll send his contact info.
He's a 'pro' and has been for more than 30 years.

This used to be a fairly common repair. Any old school gunsmith should be able to do it. Check with your local gun shops to see if they have "a guy."

You might check with Rose Action Sports

I have not used them but I have seen them recommended in many threads here.

Worth a shot anyway.

My buddy has a set they work but unless you work the outside of the barrel you can still see the spot.
The one he has you actually push through the barrel not one of those hydraulic ones brownells sells.
A professional job will cost more than you could imagine.

This is what is left of a dent I had fixed on a 16ga sxs I didn't want to spend the money to have the barrels filed and refinished. Not to mention the barrels are fairly thin to start with.

If you want to DIY, 4D Rental will rent you the Brownells hydraulic tool for $60, Brownells has the Instructions  on their website, I'm sure there's a video out there if you look.

Heh, we just had a demonstration of this at school a couple weeks ago. I'd take it for you if you were closer to PA.

Before the hydraulic removers mechanical removers floated around for many years.

They are not actually that hard to design and build.

Think of a fancy collet with two pieces on a long threaded rod to pull them together.
