To quote Marvin from Hitchhiker's Guide, "This will all end in tragedy, I just know it.."
My brother took in a Browning single barrel trap gun today, despite me being against it. The rib has been heavily dented and is loose. My plan is to remove the rib, straighten the dent, and use Loc-Tite Black Max adhesive to reattach it. I think the adhesive will be easier to do then the soft solder.

My problem is how do you, or what is the best way, to remove the rib from the barrel?

ETA: Just found this Murray’s Vent Rib Tool, looks like I don't need to removed the rib...

It is a nice tool.

ETA I used to use a pair of small aluminum wedges that I fabricated to get under the rib and "nudge" upward the dent. I still use it sometimes, but the Murray tool is quicker & doesn't put stress on the rib to barrel interface, which the wedges still do.

I came in to suggest the tool...but alas I was way too slow....

I'm late to the party too ...but the Murray tool is handy for removing dents.

If the rib is loose or broken off I would (and have several times) send guns to Moneymaker Guncraft to have the rib re-attached.
