Anyone know where I could send a standard 1/2x28 MB and have it rethreaded to fit a 9/16x24 barrel I have?

This project is not worth the time or money. You'd be better off just purchasing a new muzzle break.

The brake I want to use doesn't come in 9/16x24.

That brake will likely be harder than a bulls balls due the heat treatment. I doubt you will find a machinist who is worth his salt willing to accept this project.

It can be done, but you only get one shot at it.

.56" inside diameter for 9/16

.498" inside for 1/2

As you probably know that is referring to the major diameter of the threads, not the diameter of the hole you bore in the muzzle device.

What material is it? Stainless I'm guessing?

I've got an email into a gunsmith that has done it before.  Hopefully this is the ticket.

I think its stainless, its the OPS Inc 12th model brake/suppressor mount.

416R and 17-4 PH are both stainless steels.

One of those I wouldn't try to modify.

Their other brakes are 304 stainless, if the 12th is then it's no bigger deal than drilling her out and running a tap through her. I guess you could get fancy and bore it out to make sure it's concentric since it's a suppressor mount. I doubt the drill is going to walk off in a hole that is that big already though.

You are correct my good sir.

But it is still doable

I can do it for you. Have all the correct tooling for that. I will use an internal threading bar on my lathe set up on centerline of bore.

Looks to me like you could do this fairly easily.
the nominal minor diameter for a 9/16-24 is .522 (+/- .005) from the machinery's handbook.
That means you only have to mill off the threads for the 1/2-28 plus another .011" per side of material.
Than run a tap down it.

Shouldn't be to hard with a lathe, even if it is stainless steel.... may have to go slow and use lots of cutting fluid, but doesn't sound to far fetched to me.

Have you tried calling and checking to see if Allen has a 9/16"-24 brake on the shelf?

Came to post this.

You can email Ron Allen at [email protected]

I think they are moving to Nevada. But I'm not 100% sure.
