Have 4 for my MPX right now, feel like I need more.  Have 10+ for my scorpion evo.

What say you?  I am thinking at least 10 each...

How many can you fit in a chest rig?
1 in the gun + whatever your chest rig holds, minimum 5 mags

I have 10 for my Sterling.

I would go with that.  how many mags you want is strictly up to you and your wallet

I feel I don't actually "own" a gun until I have at least 5 mags for it.

I believe in a minimum of 8 mags for all my pistols and a minimum of 12 mags for all of my SBR's and rifles.  That is the minimum, as far as AR mags goes I have somewhere between 55 & 60, 25 for my VZ58, 20 for my VZ61 SBR,  20 for my 6.8SPC Diplomat SBR, 15 for my Kriss SBR, and the list goes on.

Magazines are a durable item and will wear out, I prefer a minimum of 10 magazines for anything I really shoot.  I have 10 30 round magazines for the EVO and at the relative "cheap" price of about $20 each I plan to double that in the next few months.

I shoot for 10 per gun, no pun intended. If I have more than 1 gun that takes the same mag then we get into some serious math equations.

I have 13 for mine (Glock AR-9) and have 10 more on the way.

But I also have a Glock 19.

I agree. That is enough for a respectable loadout, but not too many that they become a burden.

Well, maybe two or three...but only one to actually shoot it.

Some go overboard and need bags of them but I am more practical. I think four or five is plenty.

Depends on the mag capacity as much as anything.  Probably 3-5 at a minimum though.

We found out during the '94 ban,
that hicaps were worth their weight
in gold, but it didn't matter, if you
couldn't afford them, or find them.

It might not be a bad idea to stock
up as many as you can, for your
favorite toys,  in prep for this Nov.

I have a fat .50 full for my Scorpion... that's 36 30's and 2 20's (probably could squeeze another 20 in but why bother?)

Spent the cost of the base gun again in mags. That should last me a lifetime

I agree, when I go to the range I have ammo cans with loaded mags. 12 AR 9mm, 24 uzi, 12 sterling. Range time should not be spent loading mags.

I've got 10 of the 30 rounders for my Scorpion carbine, and the two 20 rounders it came with.

That'll tide me over for a while. If I see any sales on them (like $15 each), I'd be inclined to pick up a few more.

A pcc is generally a "want" item...that said, I'd say 6 is a minimum for any long gun for the avg non-competitive shooter. Chances of a civilian engaging anyone with more rounds than that is so low you're more likely to win powerball.

In many cases, though, how many mags for non-shtf guns I buy depends on price. I'm not buying 20 mpx mags...but I would buy 20 scorpion mags.

If it's gonna be an shtf gun, there's no way to have "to many". Another thing i weigh in this decision is the potential for innovation. There's something to be said for applying the principles of dollar cost averaging and accumulating your mag collection over the long term. If I had bought 100 gen 1 pmags I would have invariably ended up buying more mags later even though I would have bought plenty with respect to quantity. That's not efficient.

Only have 1 pcc for now, the MPX that I just picked up. Currently have 2 mags for it, and at 50 bucks a pop at a GOOD price(for gen2) I may never have more than 6 or so. Id like to run it in a few courses, and after the can it will serve an HD role so 6-8 is plenty.

I will eventually build up a 9mm AR to run Glock mags, of which I have cans full of

there's another thread someone started "looking for low cost MPX mags"..

my reply was "so is everyone else that owns one"..

I dont care how good a weapon is, $60/ea for mags for it makes it a stupid purchase, IMO..

that MPX doesn't do anything that the Scorpion Evo doesn't..

I can believe ANYTHING is stupid without having to defend how I arrive at the determination.

if 10 mags cost you more than half the cost of the firearm, you chose poorly.
it has absolutely nothing to do with your disposable income.. (in the case that was meant as an insult towards me, I'll add )

then you're paying too much for the pistol.  I see them here all the time for $1200 out the door..
(and since the sig mags are regularly over $60.00/ea, that's more than half the cost of the rifle)

All mag fed guns should have a minimum 10 mags per.
Most of mine have double that, I keep 10rnd mags for new shooters.
This includes handguns and I even have 11 speedloaders and a couple of strip loaders for my one revolver.

I may now have enough 30rd mags for the Scorpion but will likely buy more if I can find a good deal. For the CX4, I really like the 20rd Mec-Gar Beretta mags and plan to pick up more of those. Arms Unlimited seems to have the best price at $25 delivered. IMO the factory 20 and 30rd mags stick out too far, while the Mec-Gar 20rd is based on their flush fit 18rd mag with an added plus 2 base plate.
