Anyone using the CZ Custom's Evo 3 Folder?  It's pricey, but looks like a well manufactured piece.  Looking more and more like my CLEO isn't going to sign off on my Form 1 in the Gestapo state of IL, so may have to consider the alternative of a folding unit and pistol brace (i.e. Shockwave).

Why not start a trust and skip the CLEO sign off part?  Or is that not allowed either in IL?

Not allowed. Must have the sign off because the sbr is permitted only through a C&R here.

I have no interest in a non-factory Scorpion Evo stock. AR buffer tube stocks are extremely silly on guns that don't require a buffer tube to function. Not to mention the comb height is wrong and the cheek weld is extremely poor for the Evo's sight plane.

I just ordered it so Ill mount it with my brace and see my self if I don't like it I'll sell off the whole package. Considering the cost that some want for direct fit evo folders is crazy. The hera sfu is cheaper but I didn't bother with it time will tell. I have the kak shockwave blade kit. I might like it once I can fold it. I also like that I can remove the brace while its folded as the button is accessible that way you do not have to remove the tube. make altering a smaller hard case foam easier to make all this package fit into cases.

I have a PAP AK pistol with a brace and plans to get an Evo.

I have been looking at folding mechanisms and the two most promising ones I have found so far are those made by Hera arms. Imported by Lan world and the U.S. Machine gun adapter. The Hera item is much more conformal, but costs around $90 and I am a bit leery of Hera products after I ordered one of their AR dust covers and it had to be filed to fit.

U.S. Machine gun is probably going to get the nod once I get my pistol back from the guy who is taking his sweet sweet time installing the ALG defense trigger. It is only $35 shipped and the company seems to have a good reputation.

If one wanted to go super cheap UTG apparently makes something similar to the U.S. Machine gun adaptor. Available from primary arms for only $20

Ok got it today the shockwave tube fits thread pitch is the same. lockup when up is rock solid when folded its wiggles up and down makes it seem cheap. It is solid and seems made well but I'm disappointed that it wiggles when folded. also its depth for the brace tube is shallow and means those spacers shockwave sells are made to cover the threads that will show I just moved the brace even further forward to cover the exposed threads. I also do not think it will be able to be fired when folded maybe after cutting away the top sling loop in the blade but even then ejection port is obstructed. Not a deal breaker for me but maybe for some. Ask if you have questions. I like it as its rock solid when unfolded and makes it compact for a bag. I can see it uses a ball detent as its frictional hold open on a detent notch so possibly I can take it apart and add a very strong spring to help make it lock up better. may not even worry about it. Now Friday I should have may  Vortex sparc for her.

I like how it looks on the Scorpion. I also like the design better than alternatives. Bummer it has wiggle. About how many mm play?  I also kind of figured the ejection port would be obstructed and wish it was reversible to the left. Oh well, I guess it's compromises I'll have to consider since Form 1 seems out of the question here. Hit back a response on wiggle play.

14.8mm using my reloading calipers that's from the side to the side of the stock measured inside folded it just doesn't lock up tight folded. I'm going to contact cz custom to see if this what they call normal as I don't think it should be this loose. We will see. I was just on their website they are sold out again. Really the movement is none issue for me, but it would be nice to know if it is a malfunction or intended.

Why don't you just buy the Hera side folding unit?  http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/07/jeremy-s/gear-review-hera-arms-sfu-side-folding-unit/

It's less expensive, is supposed to be of very good quality, and in my opinion looks very good.

Same as above. Looks like a solid unit but I didn't want to add any length. Don't care for the fact you need the factory adaptor on top of the Hera either. Prefer the look/function of the CZ Custom unit as a result. Only benefit to the Hera is I think you can run it to the left as well as the right.

hera is reversible and half the price, to some might be the ticket to be honest I love this setup even with the little bit of play when folded it is well made and locks up solid unfolded. no movement. Ill see what they say if I can call and talk to them tomorrow on the movement when folded.

I'm running the CZ folder and love it! For me OAL was pretty important and the CZ shaves almost 2 inches off the folded length VS the Herra. The CZ is a very well made folder, I'm really glad I was one of the very few that managed to get one.

either way the hera is supposed to be able to be reversed on the scorpion if you wish to be able to clear the ejection port and fire folded. It is not my photo, but a google photo I used to show the top and length added in comparison to the cz custom mount. I Like the versatility to the hera just not its look on the scorpion is all personal preference not a knock on its ability to be fielded in any way.

I had the same thing. Not a big deal. My solution was to move my brace out a bit further than yours. Basically the scallop on the brace is flush with the bottom of the KAK mark on the tube. I marked the spot on the brace where the metallic right hand sling connector contacted when folded. I then bored and countersunk a hole to fit a small magnet. I glued the magnet in place using a plastic friendly CA glue. Epoxy would work as well. Now it folds and holds closed quite nicely. It looks like the factory stock's magnet that people are using in the 922r kit. I'm sorry I don't have pics, but it was really easy to do. I'm a huge fan of the CZ custom stock. So much that if I eventually SBR it, I might just stick with it and put a MOE or other AR type stock on it.

With the CZ custom folder and shockwave brace,  are you able to fire it folded (and the brass eject freely)?

14.8mm using my reloading calipers that's from the side to the side of the stock measured inside folded it just doesn't lock up tight folded. I'm going to contact cz custom to see if this what they call normal as I don't think it should be this loose. We will see. I was just on their website they are sold out again. Really the movement is none issue for me, but it would be nice to know if it is a malfunction or intended.

I did the same thing except I have countersunk magnets so I screwed mine to the Blade. My adapter has a little play in it when fully opened. CZ Custom has sent me a new one with a shipping label to return the ols one. Thats awesome customer service if you ask me.

Cool I'm glad to hear they backed it.
Fireing folded, and in general no it will eventually block brass and jam up the action at least it does in mine. Its not meant to be fired folded. I'm ok with that.
