Decided to take advantage of the marlin rebate going on.

I've always wanted a 45 70 but do I go for the 4+1 or the full tube 5+1.

They both look good to me but I just can't decide which to get.

I just picked up an 1895 GBL, love it .
It handles well , holds 6 rounds.

I prefer a straight stock, but it's really personal preference.

I just picked up a G for the short magazine - easier to chop barrel and thread since you don't have to shorten the mag tube and cut another dovetail for it.

Seriously, 4, 5 or 6 rounds doesn't really matter.  This ain't a combat weapon.  As to tube length go with what looks good to you.  Same with straight or pistol grip stock, lever configuration, metalurgy etc.  Besides, most stuff is easy to change on Marlins.

I would pick barrel length over capacity.

The regular 1895 with a 4+ and 22" barrel looks awkward to me.

However, the 18.5" looks awesome with the same capacity.

I really like the 1895GS.

My guide gun is my primary hunting rifle.  I usually only load 2 rounds.  I really like the look of the full length magazine tube but I'm not sure I can really justify the expense of converting it or buying another one.  I like the straight stock too.  I have a couple of lever guns that aren't and they just feel kind of strange.  May be just what one is use to I suppose.
