Nice but spendy.  For that much money you could buy two Rossi 92s, change the sights and still have extra for ammo or reloading components.

Does anyone know who makes Taylors & Company's Model '92s?  At one time I thought that they were Rossis but finished a bit better and with better wood.

I have a Taylors in .357 it's a very smooth and easy handling gun. The take down feature is nice, packs up small. Doesn't like factory .38spl, but if I hand load them long it does fine.

Currently I'm lusting for the same model in .45lc

.45lc takedown.

One surprise though...it has a matte finish, which I have grown to like for its utility and that this piece is not to be a safe queen.

With use,...

Shiny gear gets scuffed.

Matte gear gets polished.

It is a physical law of the Universe.  <-- not kidding.

I was looking at that rifle in 357.  It is a nice piece.

Chiappa has had this model for a while (Trapper Skinner model) but Taylor's recently rebranded it as the Huntsman.  The .357 has been on my short list for a while now.  It's pretty spendy though, so I keep holding off.   There is another thread on here where someone has it in .44.

I really like this front sight, but I need a taller one...any suggestions...?

Why?

Raising the front sight lowers the point of impact.  Is it related to that?

Is that front sight just clamped onto the barrel and magazine, or am I misinterpreting what I'm seeing?

If it's just clamped, you could shim it up.  If the sight radius is in the 12-14" range (I'm just eyeballing it), then you need a 0.030" shim to raise the point of impact 8" at 100 yards.

No matter how the sight is affixed, you need to raise the front by about 0.030".

Before you freak out over a clamped front sight and a shim, my Anschutz's front sight is clamped to the barrel and has a shim.  It is as reliable as any front sight I own.

What would I do?  I'd send it back to Taylor's.

What ammo did Taylor's use to determine the height of the front sight?

Not getting any response from Taylor's after twice emailing them in two weeks, which is very disappointing to say the least.
Interestingly, I emailed Chiappa that actually manufactured the gun, and they responded back the next day with RMA information. However, I want to try the 6 o'clock sight picture before parting with the gun at this point.
Wish I had gone directly to Chiappa in the first place. Taylor's will never get any more of my business.

Hmm,... thanks for that info.  It's good to know.

They took your money readily enough.

For that kind of money, I'd buy a Henry....   And I did.

Ordered a 2.5x Leupold Scout Scope from Brownells. Anyone mount one on one of these...? Best recommended scope base...?

I used the Wild West Guns mount with Leupold QRW rings.  It returns to zero and allows use of the stock sights.  I used the AO systems mount before the WWG.  It was sturdy but less streamlined.  It also looked a little high tech for my taste.
