I have an 80's era jm stamped Marlin 30as in great shape. The only issue is the stock. Someone tried refinishing it. Looks horrible. This is the type with the end cap, not barrel band. I have noticed in local stores many new Marlins with what looks like the same stock set. I called Marlin and they sell the stocks seperartly. They could not tell me if it would fit. Has anyone tried this?

I have swapped stocks on several Marlins, most are the same.  Question, why not refinish the existing stocks instead?

You might contact outfits like Wild West Guns.  They do custom work and may have take offs.  these stocks are usually in very good to new condition.  They don't advertise them on their site so you have to give them a call.

I mention WWG because I've dealt with them quite a bit.  But a goggle search will likely provided other outfits that have them available.

I'd be interested in you short stock.  I've been looking for a youth stock.

I've been looking at ebay, just haven't seen anything for me yet.
