Used older ones are $480 and JM stamped ones are $550 plus.

And they are rare in this part of the country.........everything is EBR's and tactical stuff.

I put $500 into this one to get it to where I like it.

small mom and pop stores have shit tons of huntin' rifles, because everyone trades em in for a tactical rifle.  Keep your eyes open and $400 in your pocket.

OK, so Marlins "new guns" fit and finish is shit.

How are the mechanical's? Do they function?

Can I smooth one out if it's just rough?

To tell the truth the 1959 gun I just pictured needed tons of work too, it was a real John Wayne gun when I got it (Rough as hell but worked all day)

I just bought a new Marlin 336 this past week....seems to have been made in 2015.

The fit/finish of the receiver and wood stock look great on this gun. However, I was able to look over the Marlin in person before buying it. I have heard about quality control issues with the Marlin stocks and overall finish of the gun, so I didn't want to buy it online sight unseen. But I must admit, I am very happy on how this 336 looks and for the price of $390 OTD I couldn't resist.

Also, the action seems just as smooth as my brothers 1970's made Marlin 336.

I have not shot it yet, but am hoping to do so sometime this week and will report back.

I am hopeful that all the problems with the Remington Marlins are resolved.
