Anyone ever have one of these? I picked one up in a trade a while back and have shot it a few times. It seems alright, just not sure if ithas a huge fan base or not. It seems reliable, it had a few dings so I had it refinished.

I had it stripped and paid for a new stain to be added. Opinions?

I have the same rifle except marked with "Western Auto". It is a pretty good shooting rifle. I don't know why they weren't more popular than they were.  Fit and finish was good, available in .30-30 and .35 Remington.  Some say they are a copy of the Marlin 336 but except for looking somewhat similar on the outside a side by side comparison shows that they are very different rifles.

I am somewhat more traditional when it comes to stock finish, I prefer the wood finish but it looks like you did a good job on the refinish and anything to keep these old rifles shooting is good!
