for barrel cleaning I primarily use a bore snake

Boresnake and oil on the lifter plus every year I take off the side plates and clean and grease the levers and pins.

IMO, you can't go wrong with the otis kit for lever guns and guns like garands, where you cant push a rod from chamber-to-muzzle. Use a quality solvent like shooter's choice, Mpro-7, or hoppes. I clean the chamber with a flexible handgun t-rod with a .45 brush.
