I might also pick up one of these too:

Very well made!

Take a look at the various handgun safes with a mechanical pushbutton lock. There are several you might consider. Most are made from thicker steel than the electronic ones, ranging from 16ga to the heaviest on the market which is 7ga. No batteries to change and no electronics to fail just when you need it. They are relatively simple, proven reliable and durable over many years of use. If you ever do wear out a lock, just replace the lock. Unlike all the electronic ones that are throw-aways.

I tried messaging you awhile back as to whether you provide discounts to forum members. From the lack of response, I'll take it as a no?

Sorry about that. I never saw your message until now.

I have the SVB500 under my desk, I love it. A little practice is good at first so that you understand the correct way to swipe your finger. Opens perfectly every time for me.

None first hand, but Liberty apparently bought this company. They have been around for a while now.

I have been researching hand gun safes for longer than I'd like to admit and finally pulled the trigger.

I mainly needed one for my trunk of the car. The problem with all of the portable safes were they couldn't hold a full size 1911 plus a extra mag.

Many people pointed me to a Sentry Safe.  It is rated the best biometric with 6 digit electronic digital and key.

The biometrics work unbelievable.  I have tried every which way to stump it and also make it fail.  It works every time and the lid opens automatically.

I'm in the same boat, i've been looking for a while too.  i'm split between the sentry and the ft knox.  One thing i'm worried about is the sentry has a tubular lock, i wonder if it's susceptible to the bic trick.

I had a gunvault mini GV 1000S that ate batteries every 2 weeks right out of the box regardless of the brand used, energizer, duracell, didnt' matter.  I did a google search and found I was not the only one.  At that point I lost all confidence in electronic locks and went back to an all mechanical.  I went with a V-line  hidaway handgun cabinet with a simplex push button mechanical lock.  I can open it just about as fast as the gunvault electronic and don't have to worry anymore about it not opening due to a dead battery.  The quality of construction is great, not heavy enough to stop someone with a pry bar and some time but more than enough to keep kids out.

Initially I was going to buy the fort knox handgun box but saw a review on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLPi4ZC7wVE complaining about loose push buttons that made me change my mind.

I have a Fort Knox Auto safe in my truck. So far I'm super happy with it. Very well made, no weak link override key,  and no problem with the push buttons at all.
