Some guys have made one off filtered units to do the trick. The aircraft guys can buy a $400 panel mount dual USB port that keeps it from making RFI that interferes with radios and navigation--not a practical solution for most of us. Hopefully someone will make an adapter soon that does not generate interference. For those with the blackvue....
I really wished I would have mounted the rear camera on the windshield facing backwards so everything in the car is recorded as well. I am going to do that when I upgrade. |

Well my 1 month old Thinkware F770 failed. It acts like everything is okay, but I am unable to connect over wifi and it records no videos to the microsd cards. I have tried multiple cards formatted a variety of ways on different computers and inside the camera itself. Big waste of $450.
The BlackVue 2 channel 550 and 650 are not the best in the world but they generally seemed to work. I think the heat killed the Thinkware even though it wasn't exposed to more than low 90s ambient (obviously quite a bit hotter inside the car on the windshield, but not 100 plus ambient like can be seen in Dallas) on the windshield before I started taking it off the windshield when parked. I would avoid the Thinkware for the time being. I need to check for firmware updates just in case. |

We all hope we never need to "use" our dash cam's but today was my day. Girl in brand new Audi does a left U-turn while I am approaching an intersection from the opposite direction (green light no other traffic in my direction of travel). I can't stop in time to avoid colliding into the rear right corner. Damage is minor, grill is caved in and hood is dented. Showed the video to the officer and he let me on my way. He talked to the girl a little longer. I would assume failure to yield was involved. Guess I'll have to wait for the accident report to get the scoop.
Thinking about all the 'what if's". I did hit her from behind, could she have lied and claimed innocence and blame the rear car? (she didn't it would seem) Did I space and go through a red light? (no, thank God but the thought popped into my head immediately after) Thanks to having the dashcam I can put my mind at ease. Really glad I run them in both of my cars. Will try to get the video posted after i see the police report. |

From the accident report:
The driver of Vehicle #2 had a dash cam video of the accident. I watched the video and it was determined that the driver of Vehicle #2 did not have enough time to react to Vehicle #1 making a U_turn and not yielding to oncoming traffic at the intersection. The driver of Vehicle #1 was cited for Failure to Yield at intersection. |

A quick question.
The way I have my G1W camera hooked in right now is just to my cig lighter port. This outlet stays on all the time. I can't find easily how much the camera pulls, but would this be a problem? Does anyone leave their camera on constantly? Do you have problems with it draining the battery? |

View Quote You can end up with a dead battery. You need a low-voltage cutoff switch, or "battery protector" that cuts off that outlet once the voltage drops to a certain level. This will keep you from killing your car battery, or ending up stranded. |

Hey Gents. Recently got rear ended and car totaled. I left enough room in front of me, but the thought got in my head God forbid I didn't it'd be hard to corroborate who hit who first if I was sent into them.
I just picked up the brand new A119 (capacitor is standard now) which records in 2K 60FPS. Very small and discreet which is why I picked it over the large mirror shaped cameras. Heads up, due to the new model the 118-C (capacitor is what you want) is now on sale on Amazon. I'm going to hard wire it- I'm assuming recording while car is off is not worth the chance of battery drain? |

I am the owner of West Coast Jewelry. It came to our attention that approximately 2 hours ago our Amazon account was hacked and over 50,000 listings were created on our account which we have never sold. As soon as this issue was brought to our attention we alerted Amazon of this issue and put our account on hold while we work to resolve these issues. During that time, nearly 1,000 orders were placed for these fraudulent listings, including the order you placed. Clearly, as we are a jewelry company, we are not able to fulfill any of these orders and are in the process of cancelling them one by one. We received nearly a hundred phone calls from concerned customers, and we are working with them as we can do and hope you understand we are doing everything we can to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. You should not be charged anything for these orders, if you have questions related to credit card charges please feel free to reach out to Amazon Customer Support as they are the merchant card processor on these orders. I sincerely regret any inconvenience this issue has caused you, and we have been working with Amazon to try to uncover just how someone gained access to our account, changed our seller name, and listed these items. I hope you are able to purchase the items you are looking for from another seller. Happy Holidays, Ari Mahller Owner, West Coast Jewelry |

What is the difference between the Garmin offerings? They have dedicated dash cams with model numbers 10, 20, 30, and 35. It looks like the difference between the 30 and 35 is the 35 has GPS while the 30 doesn't, but they are the same price. What about the 10 and 20?

What's a safe no-start timeframe or way to avoid this? View Quote The truck has been hit twice in the last three years. Both times the %#@&!ng villain ran away. Hit&Run #2 was a village snow plow. The cop who took the report said "We both know what happened; good luck suing the city" Hit&Run #1 happened in 2014. The driver left his entire front bumper in the front yard (along with my truck; pushed about 20 feet). What was left of the bumper was obviously GM (Escalade or a GMC PU, I couldn't tell. But there's a manufacture's number molded into the plastic). The Orland Park PD confiscated it as 'evidence' before I could copy the number (I wanted to check local body shops & dealers to see if anyone needed a new front bumper). They're still "investigating" that one. Probably the CLEO, mayor, or something. Running the things doesn't seem to bother my (1,100 CCA) battery much, but the truck has never gone more than 2 or 3 days without being started... Without a dedicated Li-Ion battery or a manual shutoff, three days on a decent 900~1200 CCA battery seems to be 'safe' (in NE, Illinois / NW, Indiana anyway). |
