@coregon

Thank you! I'm sold!

I want the 11" rail for my 16" rifle now, and I want to either shave or cut/reweld gas regulator.

I love that exposed gas block look!

Had the opportunity to try out the Spear on Sunday. Was a very short trip and was only able to get a 50 yard zero (Didn't want to start at 100, as I didn't know if the scope was going to be close to zero on the Spear). Genuinely surprised by how soft shooting the 13" Spear is, especially compared to my LMT MARS 13.5". Hopefully I can get out and get a proper 100 yard zero sometime soon but the Spear has become my favorite "rifle".

13" is perfection. Looking forward to grabbing a 277 Fury barrel for it.

I love the mismatch but it’s not very durable ... off to my cerakote guy here we go ... if there is one thing I've learned ... its really really hard to do consistent tan/coyote anodizing while being durable ... ...

Hi @coregon, there are rumors of an imminent release of a black cerakoted MCX Spear version, is that correct?
If so any ETA?
Is this going to be some kind of Gen 1.5?

Holding up to put my hands on one of those.

Just got a SPEAR SBR.

Looking through the manual I do not see anything about rail and barrel removal. Very odd. Does anyone know the torque specs on the rail and barrel?

Thank you!

This thing is a beast. My shoulder is sore after a day at the range with her. Is it because Sig put this tiny magpul stock on it? Anyone changed the stock out and getting softer recoil?

No problem ... this really needs a muzzle brake ... once you install one ... it really tames it down ... to be fair ... any 308 semi needs a muzzle brake ... flash hiders just kind of suck ... if you have a suppressor or planning on getting one ... a brake also acts as a sacrificial blast baffle ...

can anyone confirm the only models available today are 308 in 13" or 16"?

I think that's right... the internet refuses to find me a 6.5 creedmoor for sale, and want to be sure.

Just picked up a basic bitch 16" SIG 716i Tread 308 for $1499.00. Tossed on a spare Vortex Razor HD 1-6x Gen II-e on a Badger mount and a Magpul FDE CTR..

I might like this more than my 16" SIG MCX Spear 308 for a basic DI rifle, so light!

sorry if this is repetitive or rookie...  is this how to SBR the spear without doing Form 4?

1) Buy the 13" version without a stock (PSPEAR-762-13B)
2) Complete Form 1
3) Then simply install the stock below after Form 1 is approved?
4) Do the required engravings

Planning to use this stock:
SKU8901407
ModelMCX/MPX FOLDING MAGPUL SL-K STOCK AND ADAPTER - FDE

Yes - that's how it works.

You buy the "pistol" version of it, then Form 1 it - once approved, engrave, and from there you're good to throw a stock on - it's SBRd.

Good feedback, looking for local engravers that could do the mag well lip.

Also considering what stock is best stock.  I like the kate moss style because of how flat it folds.  I have seen the standard 6 position that’s comes in it and it seems to hang out there a bit.

I’d love to hear other users thoughts.

Folding flat is nice but it is something I find more important for a "bag" rifle, like a Rattler or even the 9" setups.

13" Spear with the stock folded is still on the long side for bag use. The factory stock folds "enough" to be carried/stowed folded and gives it some weight in the back to counter the front.

Keep the factory folder. While laying flat is desirable. It folds enough to be good for vehicle deployment and/or putting it into a smaller hardcase.

I tried to throw on my Minimalist Plus … which is great for a MPX but the Spear Heavy wasn’t that fun with it.

I tried putting a Magpul SL-S on it.  Just a tad too thick to fold properly, but I really liked the cheekweld-pulled it off to maintain foldability.

I need to try a telefold on it, which is my favorite MCX stock.

If you didn't already figure it out, those are not normal TORX bits on the rails.

Do yourself a favor and buy a set if you don't already have them, the screws like to strip if you use normal TORX.

Entertaining video, and cool to see the cartridge reaching 3000fps out of a 13" barrel.  Wish they could have gotten their hands on the correct projectile/load however, so the test would be a bit more useful.  Of if they had compared the performance directly to 5.56 or 7.62 NATO.

AP if one exists, at the very least the EPR projectile being used in the Army's ammunition.  The 6.8 EPR would be interesting to see tested against gel/soft targets as well, since I haven't seen any info on it.  Only today learned it was dubbed the "XM1186".

There are multiple rounds/loadings that exist.  The load GT is using is the Army's RRA (Reduced Range Ammunition) loading, so definitely see your point that it isnt the most efficient testing to test vs gel/soft targets, etc.  But, it's what he was given and is, probably, the least effective loading, so it could be considered a low-end threshold/baseline.

I REALLY want that shovelnose rail for my Spear. That is hot!

I've never liked that look on anything but it looks GOOD on on the Spear. I think just because the way regulator looks and works.

@coregon

Also is a 6.5CM barrel still coming? If yes, what are the barrel lengths going to be?
