is your 556 an earlier version? if so, you need to confirm that the adapter actually fits. They claim they have a new generation that works with the earlier models but they never answer phones and their customer service is terrible.

I just put one of the adapters on my 556P with a Magpul CTR stock. It works well and the comb height works well with the SIG sights. I am planning on putting one on my 556C, which has AR sights which are .5" higher than the SIG sights. The .5" cheek riser that snaps on the CTR stock will work very nicely.
