Friend of mine recently received a presidential pardon for a drug related felony. Would he be able to purchase a firearm?

Really?     Who?

I don't see why not, it's considered the same as expungment.  Just like it never happened.

Are Pardons public information?

Obama has not pardoned anyone in over a year.

Anyway, itdepends on terms of pardon. Full pardon, yes, assuming there is nothing else to make him prohibited.
