Hi there,

Is anyone here aware of any over the barrel suppressors for the Steyr AUG 16" that will fit the tulip flash hider within the US?

It seems to me that it would be quite ideal having one that is over the barrel. I think they also call them reflex suppressors.

Thanks!

Any reflex design will require its own proprietary muzzle brake or flash hider, or will use none at all. I'm willing to bet that there isn't a suppressor anywhere of any design that will fit over the AUG tulip. Way too specific an application.

Ratworx has a new AUG-specific suppressor that looks very promising.

I believe that site is quite old, notice all the photos and host guns are all 1980s?

Interesting in that it mounts via the inside threads. But, again, no one is going to invest in a mounting solution for an outdated flash hider. The tulip design isn't used anymore, even by Steyr. I highly doubt that model suppressor is available anymore, even in Finland.

The reflex concept is also a bit outdated. OPS Inc/Allen Engineering are reflex designs, but there are not many others out there.

You'll have to forgive me for saying this but why are you giving such definitive answers for things that you don't know about? You've been proven wrong twice already. The suppressor is still available in the UK and in Europe.

I'll check out Ops Inc/Allen Engineering.

Not really.

You'll find no one that uses the AUG tulip to mount a suppressor in the US. Just not common enough.

And that website has been up for 20 years or so with absolutely no changes to it and no offerings for newer firearms like the HK G36, SCAR, etc. There's nothing on that site that works with any modern firearm. It be very surprised to see them still making an AUG A1 suppressor.

hmm, i've always wondered what the thread was for on the inside of AUG A1 open prong and A2/M1 tulip flash hiders.  could this type of suppressor mounting have been the reason?

They still make suppressors for AUGs.

I'm aware that probably no one in the US uses an AUG tulip to mount a suppressor and that's okay. What I'm searching for is anyone who can make a suppressor in this fashion. Even if it is custom made.
