Sounds like a good time! Anything for an out of stater with no FOID card to be concerned about when driving through Illinois with a bullpup in the trunk, 1000 rounds of 5.56, and a bunch of 42 round mags? I'm assuming I'd have to bring my ammo because buying it in Illinois without a FOID would be problematic...

View Quote Just keep your rifle cased, unloaded (loaded mags are fine, just not in the gun). Some places will let you buy ammo, some won't, it seems to vary. I would bring ammo with you (there may be some for sale at the shoot, but better to bring it to make sure you have stuff that runs in your gun). We have Conceal Carry but as of yet no reciprocity, so I would not CCW while in the state. We do have SBR's but no full auto or suppressors. Aurora, IL and Chicago/Cook COunty are the only places with Assault Weapon Bans on the books, pretty much everywhere else is fine, and the area with the hotel and range is totally fine with everything. |

O'Hare airport is in Cook County. If I fly in from WA with bullpups I'm breaking the Cook County law? You are covered under Federal FOPA (Firearms Owner Protection Act) when travelling through Cook County, no worries- cased and unloaded and you are good to go. Plenty of people have traveled through O'Hare with guns, and TSA doesn't care what you bring in and out as long as it is checked properly. Sorry if that was not clear, I will update the FAQ! |

Sure wish we could come up that way. Jenn has to stay kinda close to home with her job calling at last min. It's too bad she is good at her job and she is the first to be called, but I am proud of her.
We can go to the "other" shoot since it's closer. |
|
That's awesome there will be a NEGEV at the shoot. One of the coolest machine guns I have ever shot.
|
|
Just heard from DS Arms:
We will be bringing the following guns: RPD belt fed 7.62x39 machine gun, either traditional or our carbine variant. Unrelated but my ear pro a set of Howard Leigh's green electronic ear muffs appears to have fallen out of my car while packing to leave on the slim chance anyone finds them. And thanks again to everyone who set it up I had a lot of fun and got a free iwi hat :).
