I'd like to get some more TAC.  I can only find it in stock for $200 per 8 lb jugs.

This seems crazy to me.  I have 16 lbs on hand which is the lowest I've ever gotten down to.

I wander if I should wait a few months or accept the new price will be ridiculous.

I wouldn't accept that. I just bought 2 8# jugs of Tac a few weeks ago, paid $154 a jug before shipping and hazmat.

I think I saw an 8lb of TAC for 179 not that long ago on the shelf... But prices are going up.

Not even with shipping and Hazmat......of course on a 40gr charge you will only be paying about $28 more on 1000 rounds, that is if you were to order in bulk online to minimize shipping and hazmat per pound.

I hope not.  I'm looking for an 8 lb. jug at one of the two upcoming gun shows here.  Did some testing and I believe TAC will work for me in the .223 and the 30.06.  Need to try it in the .308.

I haven't seen TAC here, but a local store has 8# jugs of Benchmark and CFE223 for $186 + tax. Comes right above $200 out the door, which breaks down to $1 less than what I last bought 1# containers of that powder for.

Look out for 1lb packagez. They are more plentiful in my experience, and not much more expensive than what we should be paying for 8lb.

That seems to be the going price for what I am seeing in the stores.

Agree...that's crazy if you aren't out.

here is a great place to follow or ask the question too

Beyond that.....Powder Valley, Midsouth Shooters, Wideners, etc ........ TAC 8's prices are $139-$150 online albeit out of stock.....get yourself on email notifications and backorder where you can and it will eventually fill.

Backorders where I can make them on other hard to find 8's are filling in 2-4 months for me.

On the other hand, if you are out and your need it and/or time is money and someone has it .... you determine the right value.

If you follow the forum link above, backorder where you can, and sign up on various email alerts ....you will eventually find

All depends on the type of Powder.LGS has blue dot for about $100 per keg. Other powders going around $156. Give it about two more weeks and you will have a much better feel for the direction of prices for the next couple years. Some think once a couple of announcements are made, there will be another huge run on components. What you are seeing today is the quiet time. Dont think you you could ever go wrong picking up another 8 lb keg just in case.

I have 4 8lbers(not Tac) on backorder since 12/2013. I was going to cancel because shortly after I got 32lbs elsewhere. Now I am glad I didn't cancel that BO. I go through 1 1/2 lbs. a month for .308 alone.

Shazam!!   Ironic timing!

Tacked "Where to find thread" is the spot!

We should stop discussion here and let that thread and/or the mods take it imo.

Not when they are running $25 - 30 per.  Unless something serious happens, like as massive D power sweep after the elections, i will not pay $200+ for a keg in 1 lb containers.

I got 2 8# jugs of TAC that I backordered in January shipped for $325.xx.     I didn't really need it but powder doesn't go bad at that price.

I just paid $209 at the LGS for an 8# jug of IMR 4064. But I did pick up an almost new RCBS Uni-Flow measure for $29 at the same time. Kind of a win.

ETA - ^^^ $556.00. Tin foil on.
