Cleaned, decapped and sized 400 9mm cases last night.
Got up early this morning and primed and flared 200 9mm cases. Expecting 1000 Remington small pistol primers today from Brownells. |

Yesterday, I delubed the .223 cases I’d just sized, then I dug out some containers of .223 brass to increase the “ready to load” hoard.
This morning, just to be a careful loader, I spot checked the first container that said it had sized cases in it. Yeah, they’re sized, but not the same as the ones I just did. The shoulders kind of close to the max, and they aren’t as consistent as what I just did. Dang. Note to self: if you mark a bunch of brass as “sized,” record the comparator numbers too. So at the moment I have three containers of about 300 cases each that I’m going to size to my current standards. With the batch I just did, that’ll put me well over 1k. Once I get all of it done, anyway. And today I’m going to set up my Giraud trimmer to trim what I can. Since the Giraud indexes on the shoulder of the case, final case length depends on where the shoulder is, so it’s kind of important to keep the sizing consistent. |

I got 300 more .223 cases lubed for sizing. They'll dry overnight and I'll go at them in batches. I didn't get the Giraud set up yet. I put it off until later.

I sized the 300 cases I lubed yesterday, then lubed up another 300 for sizing tomorrow. I am surprising myself with how much deprimed, clean .223 brass I have squirreled away. I may figure out a real plan for how much to get sized and stashed, but for now I’m aiming for 1200-1500 all sized and trimmed the same.

I've been pounding out .223 like it was my job. Started using H335 but that's my powder for .30-06 for the M1 Garand and given powder availability I switched off from that.
I found nearly a pound of H322 on the shelf that I had apparently been doing some load testing for 8x58mmRD for an old Husqvarna Rolling Block a few years ago. Sold the rifle after it proved to be shot out and still had the powder. Anyway, there was enough today to turn well over 200 rounds so win-win, got rid of some powder I don't need, saved some of my more precious powders for other calibres. |

Finished converting ~270 pieces of .223 to 300 blackout. I’d already cut the cases so yesterday and today I resized, trimmed, swaged and uniformed primer pockets. Then wet tumbled.
Started resizing another batch of ~300 and the 550 started binding. So I stripped it down, cleaned and re-lubed. I’ll put the shell plate back on and align tomorrow. |

Like yesterday, I de-lubed 300 cases, sized 300 cases, and lubed 300+ more to prep for tomorrow. Plus I’m tumbling another 300 to de-lube them.
The order isn’t wrong; I’m trying to go through at least a chunk of the .223 brass I have, and it’s a bunch. So I lube a batch the day before to dry overnight, and usually leave that day’s sized cases to tumble in the morning. Then I lean into sizing the brass I lubed previously. Today I had a bit more ambition, so I’m de-lubing what I sized today. I also made cheap corrugated cardboard covers for some Akro Bins for dust protection, and so I don’t drop stuff in the wrong one. I apparently have been a madman in collecting this brass. I have over 1k sized already, another 400 or so on deck for prep tomorrow, and I found 1k of clean and ready to process brass all boxed up and ready. Plus at least 3-4k of dirty brass that I need to wet tumble so I can start working on it. I definitely felt productive today. |

Lucked across some nice IMI 7.62x39 brass in the EE.
Still a K available for the initiated. I have loaded for 7.62x39 for a long time. It's actually one of the first cartridges I loaded for. Probably ought to grab a jug of CFE BLK next time it is available. I'll be loading up some 125 gr. ballistic tips @ 2500FPS when I get the time. |

Sorted about 3 gallons of brass. Decapped, resized, trimmed and tumbled some 35 Whelen brass for more testing, this time in 250gr.
First time using the Franklin Platinum Trim Center dohickie. Very easy to set up and the +- was a max of .002 on a 2.484” target. Not the best, but perfectly fine for my applications. |

Excellent day of testing some 223 and 8mm Mauser loads at the range.
After 20 years of my Great-Grandpa's Mauser sitting in my safe, I was ringing steel at 500 yards with some Speer 150g loaded with IMR-3031. Ready for deer season. Found a great load for 77g SMK with CFE223, which I have a lot of and meters great in my Redding thrower. This week will be prepping 500 more 223 cases to load an ammo can full of match kings. |

Tumbled 1,158 cases of 9mm brass today. Man I love the FART, ran it for 3 hours and the water was black. Poured it out, refilled and ran for another hour to kind of rinse everything. Nice shinny brass. Still have to work the kinks out of cleanup in the kitchen sink. Also need to work on a dryer of some sort.

I went through around 600 cases, sorting for crimped or not crimped primer pockets. Tedious but necessary, since it’s all mixed headstamps.
I decided to do that instead of sizing more cases so it didn’t feel like I was so far behind. Maybe I should have done this sorting before I dove into the sizing… |

Was up early this morning, and I finished sorting, cleaning, resizing and trimming all of my once fired factory .357 brass.
Now the only .357 brass I own that isn’t prepped and ready to prime is fired Starline brass that I have already trimmed to 1.280”. So I can safely say all the brass in my reloading inventory is now 1.280” in length Attached File |

Yesterday afternoon I sized a couple hundred .223 cases. I noticed that, near the end of the session, the brass had shiny lines - not scratches - after sizing.
So I went at cleaning the sizing die. I scrubbed it with solvent - no help. So I did some research and this could be that with all the sizing I’ve done recently that some brass has rubbed off into the die. One source recommended using an overnight soak with Kroil to loosen up the adhered brass, so I did that. After another scrubbing it’s better, but there are still streaks. I probably need to get a strong copper fouling remover, but the one most recommended for barrel cleaning, Hoppe’s #9 Copper Bore Cleaner, is not in stock anywhere locally. Ordering it is certainly an option, but the lead times (two weeks?) are frustrating. |

I learned some stuff yesterday that I hadn’t mentioned earlier.
First, IMG headstamped brass has really undersized flash holes. I learned this because one case caught the depriming pin on my sizing die and would NOT let go. Second: a #8 flat head machine screw 3/4” long will fit in a small primer pocket without scratching the sides. If you place the screw on the bench threads-up, then hold a case with a stuck depriming pin really firmly and push down HARD on the #8 screw, you can get that pin at least flush with the bottom of the primer pocket. Reassembling everything after that allowed me to get the case off the pin using the press. Third: more of a reminder than learning something new, but case rims are often the reason a case won’t gauge after sizing. The new thing is that IMG rims are slightly oversized, so will always fail gauging. Since I expect to load this particular bunch of IMG brass once and leave it at the range, I’m not going to chuck the cases in a drill to turn those heads down a few thou. I did come across a good handful of brass that had burs on the rims - visible as well as noticeable by feel. I used a fine file and a little patience and these cases now slide in and out of the shell holder as well as the headspace gauge. I also got some good advice in my “how to clean a sizing die” thread, and ordered Hoppe’s #9 Copper Bore Cleaner. I expected it to take at least a week to arrive, but today Amazon said it’ll be delivered tomorrow. Not what I expected, but I’m not going to complain! |

I decrimped about 200 .223/5.56mm cases this morning. I sorted a BUNCH of clean brass by crimp or no crimp yesterday, so I could get this part done pretty smoothly.
