Received.  I had to change my plans for tomorrow; I was going to start casting as soon as the sun was up, but...  You know that old saying, “your car knows when you have money”?  My car knew that I had plans, so the battery decided to start being grouchy, and I have to take it in for service - it should still be under warranty, or I’d just find a good battery and do it myself.

Anyway, Saturday morning plans are now pushed to Sunday morning, but I have time Saturday to shop for baking needs for cooking my bullets.

I got my car's battery replaced today.  It was under warranty, but it took most of the morning to get it done.  It was too hot to start casting by then, so I set up my Rock Chucker and sized and expanded my small stash of .45 Colt brass.  I'm going to de-lube the brass this afternoon.

Unless "the creek rises," I'll be working on casting tomorrow morning right around the crack of dawn.  The projected low overnight for San Antonio is 71, so I'm stoked about casting tomorrow!

Ladder tested 77gn SMK, found a sub MOA load and came home with some 30-06 cases.

Have the 30-06 resized and tumbling, hope to finish processing the brass tomorrow before my flight.

Finished resizing/depriming the last 1800 pieces of 9mm brass (range pick-ups, EE purchases). Gee, do you think I have enough now?

Been an ongoing project for the past several years. And this is just one caliber. Perhaps it's time to consider buying a progressive press.

Heck no!  You need ALL the brass.  Except what I need, of course (which is also ALL of the brass).

Seriously, yes, a progressive will help you finish processing all of that brass within your lifetime.  Geeze, that’s a LOT of brass to do anything with one step at a time.

My own input: I just made a very large number of bullet-like objects in my first bullet casting attempt.  I took advantage of the low morning temperature (it was about 71 when I got started), and went through somewhere around 15 pounds of alloy.  Aside from the obviously mutant/incomplete/finned/etc. bullets, I’m sure I have about 30-50% rejects.  And I really don’t have a clue how many I actually cast.

Once everything (including ME) cools down, I’ll start counting and inspecting the bullets.  I’m pretty sure I have enough good ones to start playing with powder coating them, but whether that’s a couple hundred or several hundred, I have no idea yet.

Sized, trimmed, tumbled, and expanded 50 45-70 cases, and also fully prepped 100 .223 cases which are tumbling right now. Got another order in of 200 405gr cast bullets from ACME. Have already gone through 100 ACME Bullets, and a 100 LaserCast in about a month. Haven't reloaded 223 in over a year so I figured I'd also prep some brass.

Sorted out a bunch of brass I picked up yesterday before and during the break at Steel Challenge match.

Added quiet a bit of 9mm to the pile as well as a decent amount of 45 and a few 40's.

Have shot about 500 of a load I worked up for my Carry Optics Glock 17 and have been pretty happy with them.  Will load up the 3k or so I have sitting under my bench now starting this week.

You have our permission....dooooo it!

I don't know how I managed to load 800-1000 rounds of 9mm a month before I got the 650 (was using Lee Classic Turret).  I couldn't believe I waited so long to get one...now I want a bullet feeder or something else to speed it up even more.

I had issues with my casting.  Apparently the molds or the alloy (or both) weren't hot enough.  I've dug into a lot of resources, and I've asked for help on Cast Boolits.  I'm somewhat bummed, since I put three hours of effort into the casting, and made over 350 bullet-like objects.  Only a very, very few of them turned out to be real bullets.

Fortunately no materials were wasted, just time and sweat.  So the rejects will be melted down again, and hopefully I'll get some useful advice on the how-to of temperatures for casting.

Get things hotter. Castboolits people and those on this site will help you as well.

For me, I sized the last of the linotype 37 gr .22 cal PCC bullets I cast up a few weeks ago.

That's about it. Work has been busy, life has been busier.

4 runs of 5 rounds of 125 gr Speer TNT over H110 from min to max.

I need to grab some lil’Gun to throw under my 150 gr GD.

Considering acquiring a Lee FCD (I think I’ll need the 30 carbine version for this cartridge)

I had some ammo I reloaded a little too hot. (200 rounds)  I pulled all of the bullets and kept the powder.  I resized the cases and reloaded the brass with a reduced load with the powder and bullets I just pulled.  It was a long day.

I started a thread about my casting issues here.

This evening, I cleaned the molds I used on Sunday.  I'd been advised that maybe I hadn't cleaned them thoroughly enough, so I was really diligent about scrubbing out the colds using alcohol and a soft tooth brush.

Then I started arranging my die sets, since I've recently bought several new ones.  I noticed that I'd bought newer versions of several dies, and it turned out that I still had the old ones still set up with Lock n Load bushings.  So I went through and removed the bushings from dies I'm not using.  That gave me bushings for my .45 Colt dies, as well as a few spares.

Then I hand primed my small stash of cleaned, sized and expanded .45 Colt brass.  I had CCI large pistol primers on hand, and I noticed, as others have mentioned, that they were more of a challenge to seat than Winchester primers are.  Not a problem, just more work.

I'm looking at a particular load from Lyman 49; they used a Speer 230 grain swaged bullet over TightGroup, and marked the starting load as "potentially the most accurate" with that bullet.  Since I have a large pile of (commercial) lead 230 grain round nose bullets, I plan to use that load to "get my feet wet" with loading this caliber.

i did about 1300ish 9mm and 500 .223 in the past 2 weeks on a Hornady single stage also. that included trimming and swaging and priming. now i just loaded up 500 9mm and see my 9mm brass stash dwindling. i think after this batch its time to call the boys in blue.

Went to Graf's of St. Charles, MO.  Cha ching!

Talked to one of the employees  there about my runout/ cincentricity issues.

The next batch of .308 I do, I am going to do on my RCBS single stage and trickle the powder.

Since I talked to the dude for a while, I felt obligated to buy some things.  Walked away with an 8 pounder of Winchester 748 and some other miscellaneous stuff.

Then I went to Academy Sports and picked up the last 3 boxes of these:

I got a hot plate for keeping my bullet molds hot.  Actually my wife got it for me while I was at work.  Yes, I'm lucky, and yes you can be jealous.

When I got home I reviewed the load I'd picked out in Lyman's 49th edition.  I was going to substitute a standard cast 230 grain bullet for the "Speer Swaged FP #4681" 230 grain bullet in the manual, but apparently Speer doesn't make that bullet anymore, so I can't just do a little math and come up with a COAL for my substitute bullet.  So more research is in order...

Jealous on those Hornady HPBTs.

Over the past few days I resized (just in case)  and primed 500 pieces of purchased 300 BO brass. I still get disappointed when I ruin a primer on "pre-swaged" brass, but oh well.

Bought a chrono. Yay!

Loaded up some sub ladders in the 300 BO.

Pretty sure I just about over dosed on fumes while cleaning multiple rifles (same room as the reloading room, so this counts).

Made brackets from Lowe's 1-1/2"x1/8" aluminum stock and 3/4" inch bolts.  Now my tool heads aren't buried.

I shamelessly stole the design from someone else here a couple of months ago and finally got around to making them.  The trick is finding 3/4"x3" bolts that are completely threaded.

Single year lot of 1x fired Lake City brass.

It is holding well under 1 MOA as far out as I've gone so far during load development. Waiting on corn and beans to come out to really stretch it out. Very impressed with terminal performance in limited testing. Can't wait to hand some out to coyotes this year

Added a FW Arms decapper to my 1050 that I use to process 223 brass.  I am a total Dillon fanboy, but this is about a million times better than the Dillon and Lee Universal decappers.  It works awesome.  Pops out primers easy and it doesent draw them back in which messes things up.  Money well spent.

Went to the range and came back with WAY more brass than I shot.  Brass is tumbling now.

Resized, swagged and trimmed 223 brass, priming it on the couch while watching YouTube with the wife.

Slowly going through some loads that worked well through my 16" AR-15 to find what works well through my 22" Compass.  Shorter leade on the Compass changed the COAL on some of my good loads from 2.250" to 2.200".  Plus 6" longer barrel may or may not have affected what charge works best so I loaded 50 rounds (10 rounds each of 5 different charges) of one load yesterday to find out.  Headed for the range this morning to find out.

Measured COAL of a bunch of bullets for my recently rebarreled 300 WM hunting rifle.

Loaded up some 10mm test rounds with Longshot and 180 XTP's.

I REALLY am liking my G40. Such a cool pistol.

Just sat down to peruse ARF for a minute. Going to load a few of some random 300 WM rounds here in a bit to narrow down which bullets to look harder at. I like doing it that way, much faster than fiddling with one bullet at a time.

Loaded up some 405g coated cast Brazos bullets for the ol 458 socom.  Trying to nail down a blasting load w/ either H110 or Lil' Gun around 1550 fps.  These bullets don't like being pushed past 1600.

Also got 15 rounds of clearly reloaded 45 LC from my friend (who is my local ffl) who got a bunch of crap from an estate.  Disassembled them to find them packed to capacity with black powder, a couple of which the black powder had nearly completely cemented together.  15 free pieces of brass tho, lol.
