Did the covert interception go as planned?

No. This vendor now requires signatures and unbeknownst to me, calls the day before.

The gig is up.

Spent $170 at the local reloading supply. Bought a pound of Benchmark for .223. Never used this one before. Also bought a new set of RCBS dies, 2,000 CCI SR primers and a Beretta shotgun range bag they had on clearance. The powder shelves seemed fully stocked. I'll probably start trying to buy an eight pounder of common powders and a couple k primers every month through the elections.

I broke the decapper stem on my .223 die on a random Berdan primed case.

Then I went to start loading up a series of cases in .2 grain increments for a new powder, and found that the bullet fell right through the neck because I'd cleaned, inspected, and primed the brass but never resized it.

....   I got to use my broken die to resize my primed brass.

Loaded a ladder of 6.5x55 in my quest to shoot 1000 F Class this summer.  Brand new Lapua cases, H4831, 136 grain Scenar-L.

RL-22 and 140 grain Sierras group very well at 100 but I'm getting over 50fps ES and vertical stringing at 600 yards.  Nothing I'm doing seems to be settling that ES down and the mixed Win/Rem/Prvi brass is about the last variable I can think of so basically starting from scratch with the Lapua brass.

Trying the 4831 because my last bit of chronograph data leads me to believe I'm not getting a full burn of the RL-22 in my 25" barrel.  I topped out in velocity at 44.5 grains and actually went down in velocity at 44.7 and 45.0.

Yesterday the old lady and I made 200 empties at the local Steel Challenge.   We both had just an awesome time.

Last night I resized 740 powder coated 40 Smith and Wessons and also 200 380s.

This morning I added about 10 loads to my Excel spread sheet that was a good bit behind in being updated.

Might load some 9mm later.

I received 20 cases of 30-06 from a friend yesterday that he had cleaned for me.

Instead of setting them aside waiting to be proceed I got board.

I normally won't load small batches of a load I already developed but I have already loaded up all my 30-06 cartridges a while ago.

The yard work was done and the boss went shopping.

So I resized, hand delubed, hand trimmed, hand deburred, annealed and loaded the 20 on the XL650 since my tool head is setup with the dies.

Newbie here. Only bent 2 decapping pins, realized I can't load 77 grain Amax into a AR15 mag.

Figured out what a bad case shoulder looks like, also figured out how to load primers wrong way up in my RCBS press.

Ordered SMK pills that can fit, managed to get all my mess ups fixed with the bullet puller and save the 8208 XBR.

Learned I have to watch every step I take.

I ran a load of 9mm and 380 brass in my wet tumbler this morning.  Unfortunately, I learned that the tumbler was having trouble getting started not because the rubber rollers were becoming glazed, but because the drive belt was stretched - and it's basically shredded itself this morning.  So I had to order a new belt and no more tumbling until that comes in.  I posted about it in the Wet Tumbling with SS Media thread.

Before I found the shredded belt, I was researching loads for .40 S&W with 180 gr bullets (which should show up in a brown truck any time now).  Boy is there some "variation" among different sources!  The most current manuals from Western Powders and Hodgdon, and the most current Lyman and Hornady manuals don't even agree on what powders are appropriate for that caliber and bullet weight.  I also researched (for kicks) loads for 380 and .32 ACP; there's more consistency there, but not as much as I'd like...

Got to play with a lab radar.  Only shot three shots across it, but the guy who brought it to the range was just as interested in the magneto speed so we did a short (three shots) comparison. The first shot was off by about 50fps, but the next two were within 3 after he aimed it again.

Pretty cool little gadget.

I have a stubborn AR that doesn't seem to really like anything. Well, today I found a load with Benchmark and 77gr HPBT I can at least use for plinking. 1.200" @100yds.I'll do some more work with it to see what I can get it down to.

Hopefully I can find a load that this rifle really likes that can be used in multiple rifles.

Shot my ladder for the Swede.  46 grains of H4381 got me a sub MOA group with an ES of 20 and SD of 8.  Way better than I'd been getting with the RL22.  Lighter charges deviate, heavier charges deviate.  Average velocity was 2797.  I was hoping to see 2850 but I'll take it.

A lot of random little projects done today.

I had just a little bit of Accurate #5 powder left from a run of 1000 .40s with Xtreme's 165gr FP.

I had 3 180gr bullets from vendor at the NRA show (probably from the last time they were in Louisville) and 1 200gr bullet, so I loaded those.  And then I had 27 home cast bullets left so I tried to use up the last of the #5, but I ran out of bullets with still a little more powder left

Then I found 4 different .30 cal bullets laying around, and loaded them into 7.62x54R using some BL-C2 that was waiting to be used.

Sized and de-primed about 200 .223 cases.

Trimmed about 100 .223 cases.

All those .223s are tumbling in walnut now.

Lastly, I started sorting a bucket of Wheel Weights.  Lots of lead ones, very few zinc or iron! yay!

A very good evening spent in the reloading room.
