I would say it will be fine. HOWEVER, start low and work up. I have several jugs of it. All have a label that has "SA-LC20521-109" on it, so I presumed that was some type of lot number. My normal 5.56 plinking load is 26.5gr WW748 with 55gr FMJ bullets and CCI#41 primers. I wanted to duplicate that load performance with WC846, so I started low and worked up. With 26gr of WC846 I got some flat primers and had a primer blow all the way out. The chronograph showed much higher velocities with 846 than 748 with the same powder weight. My duplication load finally ended up being 25.3gr WC846, giving the same accuracy (tested it in 3 AR uppers) with a slightly different impact point (about a half inch difference at 100yd) and slightly higher velocity (about 30fps higher) than my normal plinking load. Thus I would say that lot of WC846 is a bit faster burning, thus start low and work up.
WC846 is not too slow for 30-06 use in a Garand, and I will be working up a load for use in mine also....thanks for giving me the idea, as I had only gotten the WC846 to use for plinking with the 5.56 AR.
