That Benchmade looks really nice.   I propose a Kershaw ZT 0350 as another option

It's a bit heavy for an edc, but those times you're off the beaten path it's hard to beat, buck folder 110.

Benchmade 810 non serrated in cpm m4. Best folder I own.

I will add that I have 781 and several Gerber's kerahaws zts etc. bang for the buck best choice. Need to take care of steel cause m4; but keep it wet or patina on it best knife will last forever. The jimping all over is a nice feature.

Out of those 2, the spyderco. I would personally get an Emerson CQC7 though. US made, super sharp, tough and durable as well.

I own both and would go with the Spyderco.  The Contego handle is very uncomfortable in actual use. It looks cool, has great steel, but it is a huge ergonomic fail.

The PM2 is hard to beat.

If you gave me the Spiderco or the Benchmade I would not be carrying for a use every day blade. Just me. I'd make sure I had it on me when I knew you'd be around but I'm not beating it up. I say get him the Spiderco and a $50 Kershaw or Buck to beat on.

I love spyderco, but look at a ZT 0566 as well.

Can't go wrong with a Benchmade Griptilian or a mini Griptilian.

I unofficially endorse benchmade 810 in cpm m4 non serrated. Backspacer is a pos but other than that , best folder.

Another vote for Spyderco.

I'll tell everyone who ever asks about knives, I feel like everyone should have at least one Paramilitary 2.  It's the most well rounded ergonomically and functional knife in it's price range and out classes a lot of knives well above it's price range.

I recently received a Benchmade Auto Stryker as a gift for helping a buddy.

I'm not a knife collector by any means, but I appreciate quality and I absolutely love it. I can tell he put a lot if thought behind it and got me something I would have never purchased myself due to the price.

I will say that's it's expensive  (by my standards) so I was a bit hesitant to start carrying it, but it's now a part of my EDC.

Iv'e got size L hands and love my 810, however it is a big knife. Granted the other two I can compare to it is a Zt 0350 and BM AFO. Love how grippy the handles are.

Of those two listed, the PM2 hands down. That said look at the Benchmade 940 or 940-1501, whole lotta knife in a super light weight package.

There's a lot of good options out there in the $100-200 price range. Can't go wrong with anything from ZT, Benchmade, or Spyderco really. I'm partial to ZT myself.

My EDC is a Benchmade Adamas manual folder, so it's hard for me to recommend anything smaller/lighter.

I didn't like the pm2. Just seamed to fragile.  I like the contego u posted. I like all benchmade s really.
But check out a benchmade griptilian. Great for edc! One of mine has been beat up very bad over the years and has never failed. My daughter and I even used it for a throwing knife one summer to see if the lock would hold up lol.  Its bullet proof.
