My gf bought me a ultratech a couple of weeks ago. It's a great high quality knife, but sometimes when i fire it, it does not fully lock. I can get it to lock by flicking it, after the fact. Is there a reason as to why it doesn't always lock when fired? Thanks for the info gents.

Could already be gunked up with pocket lint, if you've been carrying it a lot?

I don't own an OTF knife, but they're not supposed to do that.

Some people know how to take them apart and put them back together again, after cleaning and oiling them, but I'm gonna guess that's not you?

I have a Microtech Ultratech tanto.  I have had that happen twice.  Both times it was just gunked up with lint.  blew it out with my compressor then sprayed Remington wonder lube with Teflon in it.  Worked it a few times and boom just like new.

I second the information about blowing it out with some compressed air (the stuff to clean computer keyboards can work) and then getting a light weight oil and put a little on the blace and cycle it through about 5-6 times and wipe off the excess.

Buddy of mine bought a brand new UTX-70 a couple months back.
The internals were so tight if you were to open and close it quickly about 7 or 8 times it would actually heat up.
He sent it back to MT and the replaced everything for free and it works like a gem now.
