Something handmade by Dad for a wedding gift just can't be beat.
Very nice.

Thanks very much. I can tell you I am not afraid to fail. Done it so many times it doesn't scare me anymore!! LOL. With many of these projects, tho, "failing" is a learning experience in and of itself and results in some aspect of betterment down the road. Sometimes I do something that doesn't work on purpose in order to learn the limits of the material, etc. This attitude expecially helps with making implements and knives made to be and used hard.

Do you have a sewing machine that will handle leather, or do you stitch by hand?
I do not have a sewing machine. It would be nice, that's for sure. All holes are drilled and hand-stitched. The down side is TIME, the upside is the stitching is very, very solid.
