For some reason all the sudden I want one. I never particularly liked the look of them until recently. It's going to be a user. Right now I carry a ZT 0550 for work and a Benchmade 710 for all other times. I'm thinking about selling the 0550 to help fund the Sebenza. The Sebenza would be the most expensive knife in my modest collection.
I'll probably buy one either way but I anted to hear the hives opinion. Thanks. |
unless you're buying it to be a collectible I would just buy a ZT 0450
exact same materials, both stylish imo and made in the usa only difference is ones a flipper and a production knife while the other is hand made with a thumbstud just my .02 |
That Zero Tolerance is a nice looking knife. I might have to look into that model a bit more. I've been thinking about a ZT 0562 also. But I'm not too happy with my 0550. The lockup is a touch loose and there's just a bit more play in the blade than I like. However that thing is strong as hell and I like the S35vn. I've never owned or messed with a flipper but I'd probably be ok with one.
CR knives are beautiful works of art and obviously collectable. That said they are not worth the money as a user when the ZT will do the same job for much less. JMHO
For ease of opening I like flippers, Benchmade axis locks, and Spydie holes better than the stud on my Sebenza.
I find that I like my Chinese Reate just about as much as the CR. The Sebenza does have a nice bank vault feel to it, though. To me, it is a Glock vs Wilson 1911 comparison. The Glock is generally the more sensible choice, unless you really want the Wilson. This being Arfcom, get both. |
I carry a Sebenza 25 everyday and keep it on my night stand next to my Glock 19. It is a work of art in its simplicity and will out live me! Buy once cry once!
I have ZTs, Benchmades, and spydercos.
I carry my SABENZA or one of my 3 SABENZAs everyday! More than any other knife, they are not even close to a ZT or anything yet that I have carried in any lower range of knives, it's close resemblance to my strifer, but definitely Zt does not come even close. Get the SABENZA. It'd a beautiful knife and will hold it's own. |
I ordered one last night! I went with the large regular plain one. I'm Glad to hear you guys are happy with yours. Now the long wait until it arrives. Thanks for all the replies. And thanks for the Sebenza porn!

I carry a Sebenza every day. First time I held one I immediately understood why they are so highly regarded, the fit and finish was pristine and it had one of the smoothest actions of any knife I've ever held. On BladeHQ's youtbe channel there is a great video tour of the CRK shop showing just how much attention to detail goes into making them.

I received the knife today! I really like it so far. Fits great in the pocket and hand. I didn't realize how "gritty" the finish is on the titanium. It's going to get plenty dirty at work. I was somewhat concerned about it being a little big but it's slender and smaller feeling than I imagined, it's pretty much the perfect size. It's light and nimble yet solid and stout. Not sure if I'll keep the lanyard but I'll give it a try. I see now what is said about the tolerances and smoothness. So far I love it!

Damn. I want a Chris Reeve. I absolutely love Benchmade and own four of their blades proper - nice ones, too. I definitely want a Chris Reeve Umnumzaan or one of the Pacifica or Green Beret models.

i really really want a smaller sebenza.
f it, maybe i'll drive up to bladehq tomorrow and pick one up |

I think you made the right decision.
I bought a small regular sebenza the day before I got married. I've carried it every day since. As you discovered, the size and weight are just right. They are thin in profile without being flimsy during use. Mine needs to go back to CRK for a cleaning and sharpening. |
